What is wrong with you people? When did Gudas become Pronger? Niskanen’s contract is only 2 more years. We gave up a career 3rd pairing defenseman that had a decent year last year, decent meaning he did take a poop ton of penalties and suspensions, for a multi cup winner defenseman that can show ghost, Provy, and Myers how to play a solid 2 way game.
Even if Niskanen is declining it’s only 2 seasons. This was a huge win at best, and a lateral move at worst. - youarewrong
I deal with the god damn customers, so the engineers don't have to!! I've got people skills!! |

Caps just got more physical and harder to play against. We got a 25 point minus defenseman for nearly 7 mil on this years cap counting the retained cash
Fletchered - Just5
Wait until gudas lays a flyer out and all the upset fans saying he is a dirty player.... will
Wonder why the caps gave up on him so easily it seems. |

It's not a huge win on any level. It's a nice trade. The Flyers got the better player in exchange for Gudas and some cap space for Washington. Without affecting the future. exactly the kind of deal I wanted the Flyers to make. |

Since we're looking at numbers, the Flyers should've traded for Brooks Orpik instead of Niskanen. He had a better Corsi, better GF%. Better Expected GF%. - MJL

I don't mind the move. My two concerns are 1. we traded a RHD for a RHD so aren't we still in search of another??? And, two, we have to face Radko now. Knowing what he did to our guys in practice, being on the opposing team, he is going to wreck havoc. Poor Coots is a dead man. Won't be an "accident" next time... |

Cap hits for 2019-2020
Gudas approx. 2.2 after salary retained
Niskanen approx 7
Absurd. Caps are doing backflips. They get rid of a guy who was arguably one of their worst d-men last year, and save close to 5 million.
Fletch.

Not a fan of the trade
Edit: I don't think Niskanen is an upgrade over Gudas period, but at 5 mill more too? Jeez |

Now your on board???? Lol. If this is the kind of move you wanted the Flyers to make you should have said that instead of saying how Fletcher is going to make bad moves because he was mandated. Lol.
Even when we agree it’s a good move you still find a way to disagree. You are just..... wrong. |

So you would have preferred moving Gostisbehere and retaining no salary?
Who cares about the money retained? They moved a limited Gudas for a more polished and better all around top 4 in Niskanen. The Flyers got better with this deal - J35Bacher
Isn't the veteran top 4 dman role already filled by MacDonald? |

It's hockey. Maybe when the Flyers play a team with a physical player such as Gudas, Tom Wilson, Cheap shot artist Marchand, etc, they should scratch some players so they don't get hurt.

Without affecting the future - MJL
That's the key right there.
In the basket of possible moves that Fletcher could have made, this was one of the least terrible options. It's basically a stop-gap for another stop-gap.
All the kids are still here, that's all that matters. |

Myers, Hagg, Morin all can play a physical game.
Gudas was limited. He had a very good year but he is not as skilled as Niskanen. |

This move was the exact opposite of trading Ghost. They traded a player whose value was at a high point for a player whose value was at a low point, hoping that the player can bounce back to some extent.
It's not a game-changing move, but it's not giving Gudas away for nothing. |

His on ice play that was horrid and in plain sight was coupled with the poor advanced stats, but sure just say the advanced stats were mentioned, classic MJL hand picking pieces of an argument and trying to feel superior. |

What’s sweet is when no one wants to play for your team willingly. You get drunk on the cap space! - Just5
Have to eat poop to acquire marginal players. Sad. |
