Granted, I haven't seen him play a ton since the 2018 SCF, but I think he's better than Gudas. I think Gudas performed well last year in select matchups, but is exposed as a top-4. If anything, it's lateral at worst.

So now we can start discussing the pairs.

I am ok with the trade in a vacuum. But the Flyers retaining salary when they are taking back a player who a bigger cap hit and one extra year makes absolutely no sense to me.

Corsi, Fenwick, eye test, any measurable anything... When the advanced stats back up the vision of poor hockey it's troubling.

He's a better player and more capable of playing a larger role than Gudas is. Gudas was a nice 4/5 who played well overall for the Flyers. Niskanen is more capable of playing higher in the lineup. The Flyers can absorb the increased cap space for two years.

Yes, they totally missed on Q because they were oh so in the running. And they "settled" for the best realistically available coach.

Panarin and Duchesne haven't even hit FA yet, and you have them likely missing, especially given that Panarin, like Q, isn't realistic.
