More like apples/meatballs. They're still food but not even remotely similar.

my point is, 7,31 and Nylander is gross overpayment to move up 3 spots...offer 31 and Nylander, they say no, then you stay at 7 and move on.
- Pet.m.d.

I think you are grossly overrating nylander's value

if Kakko is taken by the Devils, I would only remotely consider trading Hughes if I could trade him out of the conference and I keep a top 10 pick

so basically if it was me before walking up to he podium I'd invite Chicago, Colorado, LA, Edmonton, Oilers and Ducks to give me their very best offers and unless I am absolutely floored to oblivion, like what Quebec got for Lindros floored, I am taking Hughes

No way Colorado ever makes a deal like that...absurd. Kinda weird that most people don't seem to see it that way, but there are a lot of Sabres fans on this site.

I could see them packaging the 7th & 30+ for the 4th overall but that nonsense about J.T. Compher is pure delusion...

I don’t understand why the Avs would part with compher for Nylander who can’t crack the sabres lineup. Turcotte is exactly what the Avs need so they won’t be trading down for the 7 th pick
- YKhali99

Not for me to understand quite frankly.
But, he was looking more for quantity in a loaded draft year.
Who is right...maybe both for their respective team needs?

Isn't it funny though that the number of folks who vetoed the offer for each team so far is roughly equal to each other, and combined was about the same number who approved?

That should tell you that the trade is roughly fair. As GM for the Sabres, I think I made the right deal getting more value.
Luke, the GM for the Avs feels the same way about him getting higher value in terms of flexibility and the quantity of quality in this draft.

Perspective.

Hughes isn’t my type of player. Not saying he won’t be good, he’s going to be very good, I just don’t like smaller/softer players. My prediction on Hughes, All Star regular season numbers, disappears in the playoffs. We’ll circle back to this in 5 years or so and see if I was right or wrong.
- nyrangers9479

This is such a terrible take, based purely on your narrow minded view of Johnny Hockey. We already went through this. What about the plethora of other "smaller" skilled players who have performed well in the playoffs?

he's setting up the groundwork that if we get Hughes he's going to hate him for 5 years

Fair enough, just don't see Rangers trading out of #2 and they will happily take Hughes if Devils do the unexpected and pass on him. If Rangers turn out to be wrong with Hughes, just remember, EVERYBODY was wrong ( except you ).

As far as the rough stuff, maybe Fenir will comment....

Exactly what I thought, since I'm work and not able to post a picture of Zucc in response!!!!

You need to take a step back and look at the grand scheme picture not the immediate future.
Long term sustained success is built on top heavy teams with quality depth at all positions. It’s only 3 draft slots as well pal.

But yes you do have an opinion and yes we do accept it. What would you change about the trade?

In 2014-2015 Johnny Hockey had 4g 5A in 11 playoff games, past two years hasnt been great.

and for all who say Kucherov was too small because of this past post -season

Kucherov 2014-2015 10g 12a in 26 games
2015-2016 11g 8a in 17 games
2017-2018 7g 10a in 17 games

Kucherov/Zucc don’t mind the rough stuff. Idc if your 5’8 175 but are willing to play that style. I don’t like it when your 5’8 175 and shy away from the hitting/going into the dirty areas, bc that’s what playoff hockey is all about. Even look at Crosby, highly skilled but doesn’t back down from the rough stuff as much as I hate the guy.

Bottom line is if we draft Hughes I’ll root like crazy for him bc we haven’t had a player of his potential since I’ve been old enough to watch hockey. For me there are some concerns though with his size/style of play but at the end of the day I don’t think any of it will matter because I don’t think he falls to #2 and I’m 100% happy with Kakko.

But you've pegged Hughes as being soft and he hasn't even played one (frank)ing game in the NHL.

The "soft" thing is utterly laughable. Yeah, he's smaller. He's also a total f'ing stud. I will be crazy happy with either of these guys at Number 2.

I mean I was pretty soft at 17 years old

Lets let these kids grow and play a bit before we label them soft of not
