Its always the same names, question is, what's the bait? - obie
#15, Armia, in theory Petry if Karlsson comes on board, if the player is good enough, Suzuki or Poehling, I'd like to keep all of Shaw, Lehks and Byron but hear them brought up a lot...the currency is there if the brass wants to pay a big tab |

I wouldn't trade #15, Poehling or Suzuki for any of the guys mentioned, the guys I'd trade the 2 kids for are probably not available anyway... Armia, Lehkonen, Byron and Shaw could definitely be included if the Habs get what they're looking for.... and on 2nd thought, I'd probably move the 15th for Ghost! |

Like anything else it all depends what's coming back, but to me that's the general ammo the Habs have available |

I don't think it's time to go big game hunting using the 2 best prospects they have right now, they're still trying to build through the draft and get younger... last years surprise run might have opened up a window they could try to cash in on, mainly with Karlsson... but right now if the surplus of wingers + one of the young RD + the 2nd round picks can't get you a D upgrade, you wait until next year, don't start plucking away at the very top of the prospect pool just yet |

Again, I hear you and generally agree, but...Weber and Price aren't getting younger. At some point you either need to poop or get off the pot |

That's what I meant by opening up a window, for this "generation" but not at the cost of the next, that window has closed. Anything that happens in the Price/Weber era would be a bonus, the priority should be on after, for me anyway |

So after 3 or 4 years from now? Those contracts are staying at least for 3 or 4 years for Weber and likely the entirety of Price's so, the window either needs to be now or tread water for a while |

Not necessarily, gotta find a balance. Give yourself the best chance to be competitive now without giving away your best young players. Theres the potential for a very good group of forwards in there, you have to figure out who's what before you start moving pieces out |

Again, I hear you, but I only see those young players going for major pieces coming back...it's hard to know what's available but I'm not putting absolutes on anything |

Yea, that's why I said the ones I'd trade them for are not available... besides, I believe they have enough assets to get a good enough D without having to move either |

I'm sure theres lots but the most popular name right now, Leddy... you wouldn't need to give up Poehling or Suzuki and he would undoubtedly be a significant upgrade on LD |

He seems a double edged sword, he would boost the offense and powerplay and be a liability in his own end, at least from my recollection of his play |

How about Fowler? Think he could be had without giving up Poehling/Suzuki? |

He didn't have a great year and his contract is a little high, but there is term there which would be a nice certainty. Anaheim is apparently buying out Perry and who knows what happens with Kesler but sounds like he's done, maybe they rebuild. Fowler could be an interesting target as after a down year may be cheaper to obtain |

If you include the 15th overall pick, I think chances are you can get Fowler without giving up Poehling or Suzuki.
Brodin in Minnesota could be available, could even sign Edler for 2-3 years |

Elder seems likely to stay in Van otherwise I'd be intrigued especially if he'd take 2 years |

He's 33. If he'd do two years it's pretty safe |
