None of them deserve these crazy contracts. It's the failings of mangers and their inability to negotiate better that is the problem, especially when it comes to RFAs.

Seriously, if marner wants to throw away 30 to 60m in endorsements for 1.5m x 5 or 7.5m...then he's obviously not that bright. He signs elsewhere he burns that bridge.

Most definitely. Eichel isn't worth nearly what he's being paid. The Sabre's were terrified of him demanding a trade, which he still will do if he doesn't get his way. Eichel=overrated and overpaid.

Lets be honest here, 1st off it takes a well balanced roster to be consistent, regardless of what type of player/players get paid, then drafting bc of replacing players if salaries get to high, lastly managing everything under a salary cap. It doesnt matter what "morons" pay certain players bc that's constructed by the Gm but admit some players dont deserve the money compared to others but its much easier to buy-out a player at $3m (as a mistake) compared to $6m+ player (as a mistake)

Also wanted to add, that I'm noticing that when a team has multiple players making high end money that takes most of the cap, its becoming harder to win or their window to win is short unless of course team drafted well enough to maintain.

I personally feel a disconnect with these rfa millenials. The big contract is supposed to come at 24 and 25...not 21. I won't lie, I'm very sour with this sense of entitlement that the marners and Matthews seem to have. Mcdavid got his big payday after 2 art toss trophies and a hart. What have our 2 prized leafs done besides win a Calder. And if marner truly wants to go and kiss off all that endorsement money because his ego wants to be the highest payed winger...well he can go (frank) himself.

Or, if a contract isn't signed by Day 1 of the regular season the player is ineligible to play that season.

And this isn't dubas fault. This is blue and white disease but a new form. The youngsters have obviously read too many of their own press clippings.
