Thanks. I was looking for a few names to keep my eye for and of course do some superficial research on. You've given me a great start here...until JB trades it away.

MyNHLdraft.com is a good site for mock drafts. Cam Robinson, Steve Kournianos, Sam Stern, Jokkie Novalienen (butchered the spelling) are great twitter follows and they work for Sporting News and Dobber Prospects. Sportsnet always does monthly rankings and The Hockey Writers are a good read as well.

Use the 30/31 pick to get rid of Okposo.

Why - are we in cap hell or something? Try to improve the team with 30/31 not make it worse.

I've got some really inflammatory, spicy takes about the these high schoolers who I don't know anything about. From the zero amount of research I've done, I like Caufield and I despise Dach and Boldy. Fight me
- jcragcrumple

Caufields production is undeniable. What also is undeniable is his size (not as big of a concern for me) and his average at best skating (big concern). Does he translate to the NHL? I like Cousins and “z” better but would take a chance on Caufield over debs

Turcotte is gone at three or four

but he is the only player that would push me on Cozens but he is gone, the top four are hughs/Kakko/Byram/Turcotte with the Wild Card Russian Phenom getting played somewhere in the top ten. Just my guess,

I really hoping for Cozens

I'll be happy with Kirby Dach

Cole Caufield would be a fan favorite for yrs and productive.

On almost all prospect write ups I’ve seen caufields skating has never been a listed issue, in fact most say he has above average skating.
I am missing something

Cap space is an asset. I think a late first - perhaps the latest first is definitely worth $6m in cap space. It might not be enough actually. I'm with you though. I'd do it if it's available. Time to move on

2018 End of Year -- Reporter- Hey Ryan,
I'm sure you're disappointed in the teams lack of growth and success but how do you feel about the future here?

"I lost my love for the game of hockey"
"I'm thankful to local law enforcement, that I was able to drive my car into a Tim Hortons outside Wall, endangering patrons, and then I just felt it would be the right thing to do leaving the scene, I stand by the importance of ethical behavior at all times."
By the way, I just gotta be better out there"
--Ryan O'Reilly

End of 2019 - Reporter to J. Skinner-
Hey Jeff, How do you feel about this disappointing season and missing the playoffs in your 9th straight, what is it that you actually like about playing here?

"The way the building felt during our winning streak." Being voted by the fans to represent the Sabres at the All-Star Game. The small-town feel and daily interactions with people away from the rink.

Throw in Nylander as well, that contract needs to go.

The cap isn't a problem this year. Maybe next year when Sam and Montour are RFA's, or the year after with Dahlin, but you don't sell low until it's absolutely necessary. At the very least it's a better option to hope he has a good season than to trade a first round pick.

I want the Blues to end this so the offseason begins. But I have a feeling the Bruins will take advantage of the Blues never being in this situation

4-2 Bruins

you get rid if him right now, give up the pick to move him. He will not rebound and make any kind of difference.

Get rid of okposo at 6 million and sign / trade Duchene. Karlsson etc. (top free agents) Gives you space to bring in another top 6 and maybe more too.

When KOs contract expires we’ll be extending Dahlin - perfect timing. If we had $0 under the cap it would be more of an issue. $20m vs $27.5 not worth a 1st or a 1st and nylander. Everybody’s current bromance was a 2nd round pick (o’reilly). Pick the 30/31 pick and make it count.

Serious questions, is ROR now worth the $7.5m cap hit?

Make it count when? in another 4 years ? you get rid of Okposo right now if you have the chance, any good GM will do that. Just look at what is going to happen very soon with a few players.

You don't have to just sign players like Duchene or Karlsson, just get rid if his contract and see what comes from that. Maybe nothing until mid season.

I understand as do I however, get rid of Okopso and then see what or who we can sign. Maybe it happens on July 1st or during the year, no hurry.

Top free agents will command 7yr/overpayment contracts. Pick 31 could be a Duchene or Karlsson and be cost controlled for a few years. Sam, Dahlin, and Montour are going to use enough space, they can only use free agency sparingly after signing Skinner. The cap isn't an issue this year, they have to let it play out and hope KO bounces back a bit.

StL is the last active team from the 1967 expansion that still doesn't have a Cup.

I suppose we should let them have one.

Then, onto the 1970 teams 😉
