So I guess you are telling me he has sat out 35% of the games, for whatever reason.

I don't dislike him as a player but that's a lot of games to miss.

- RickJ

and you have to wonder why Columbus is opting out, it is not like they do not have Cap money via departures to pay him, unless they feel
He is arbitration eligible and maybe they feel that the dollar amount exceeds the plan in which he fits in the pecking order.

He is a guy who turned out to not reach the hype he was surrounded by when taken so early, which the expectations of his elite offensive playmaking never coming to fruition after he arrived from the WHL (cough, Byram).

The reason I personally would put some credence in this report is the Hawks ALWAYS like this former high first round reclamation projects.

I think he played all this season, but he is clearly going to spend a career behind two much better early picks in Jones and Werenski, and Werenski has to get paid NOW I believe.
Itseems to serve r=the blue jackets interest to not let an arbitartor hear the case b/c in all likelihood he gains a fatter pay boast then they want.

Why three days off before game six and if necessary three repeat prior to game 7.

I'm wondering if that is enough to get Murray. He is 25, a former #2 overall, he probably hasn't peaked yet and played a big role already for CBJ. I'm just thinking CBJ might want more since they aren't in a huge cap crunch and don't need to unload salary.
- breadbag
Cap isn't an issue for them but their prospect pool is shallow and they lack picks. Their prospect pool thinned a lot over the last few years with graduations and via trades, and they only have 2 draft picks this draft and they're missing their 2nd and 3rd from next season as well.

Murray is good but he's likely never going to live up to his pre-draft expectations because he's too injury prone. The Jackets are in need of recouping assets if possible, so while they lack a top 4 replacement, Murray also misses enough time for them to think he's their best option to move.

Meatloaf .... ugh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LssrQOn-6NI

Yeh old enough to remember the guy - should have maybe worked out at his range his voice was done, but apparently the good people running Victoria's AFL had to pay him -probably because the other carpetbagger making the rounds then was some guy from Good Charlotte on one of those 'talent show' singer series.

Hockeywise - sure dump on the drafts but the 2015 offseason (the McDavid/Eichel) draft the Hawks signed Panarin which essentially was the equivalent of a top 3 pick seeing as the guy jumped right in to the NHL right away.

I have no idea, generally, what the point of re-drafts are - but I got that idea back when I saw everyone had passed on Joe Montana ... enough said- you can kick yourself only so often in those things -so why bother? But I know that it is effectively for nothing happening yet.

Likely due to broadcasting priorities.

Will have to expose a D man in the expansion draft after the 20/21 season. Probably Murray and Murphy if Seabs Keith and Joki protected.

Edit - It would make room for Mitchell

- boilermaker100

If the Hawks sign Murray for 3 years - both he and Murphy would have 1 year left on their contract and could be exposed.

Byram would not be rushed to NHL. No matter hiw quickly he picks up on things and shows in remental steps in development.
- jhawk59

I agree he shouldn't be rushed if he's not ready - but if he's ready, he's ready.

I admit it's unlikely - but I like the kid's confidence and I watched an interview with him, Hughes, Turcotte, Cozens and Dach where they were hanging out together and Byram stated he thinks he's ready and he meant it. He said after working hard all summer he will be ready to play in the NHL and I find it hard not to believe him.

I'm just saying there is nothing forcing their hand. There isn't a huge need to move Murray. It isn't like the Jackets are at a disadvantage due to the cap or likely to trade Murray at a discount. Is a former 5th rounder struggling to nail down his role in the NHL and a 3rd rounder the best they could get? Maybe they trade him, but it feels like to get him for Forsling + a 3rd we'd have to have them over a barrel. Maybe it happens, I just think it might take more.

Unless murry wants out or Columbus has given up on him like arz gave up on strome and Perlini don't see this happening doesn't mwke a lot of sense on the Columbus side. Wait and see!

Probably picks. They only have 2 this draft (a 3rd and Calgary’s 7th) I bet Forsling + a 2nd (early 50s) could get it done.

Hawks do not have a 3rd in 2019. A 2nd and forsling yep count me in still need a phyiscal d man maybe hagg from phily or chairot in free agency.

That is likely exactly what they would accept. Just to get the #2 plus something. They could usr another dman if Murray leaves and Forsling has NHL experience. For that and other reasons. Forsling makes sense. Unless they want a second draft choice instead.

My idea of a 3rd + Forsling not enough.

If true, the interest in Murray is a pretty good indication that at least one of last year's blueline members is going out the door soon.

And I would certainly prefer to acquire Murray in trade than chase and overpay Jake Gardner in free agency.

Insane is right. I don't think Skinner has ever even played a playoff game. Guys like Mitch Marner and Rantonen are toasting the Sabres GM tonight.

Maybe those who squawk about Saad's $6M will quiet down now.

Jake Gardner shouldn’t even be on Stan’s radar, at any price.

I guess that is what you pay 50-60 point players when Jack Eichel makes them look good.

Do you think Kekalainen might be asking about the Hawks parting with a goalie prospect who had a pretty good tournament recently?

Jeebus! What the heck are they thinking? 9 per year for a guy who is not an point per game and a career -96. Say what you will about the stat, but if you are at either of the extremes it is notable. His even rating this year is the second best to his rookie year +3. Not to mention he rode a career best 15% shooting percentage this year.

Skinner just scored 40 goals and has hit 30 a few times Saad only hit 30 once. They are both overpaid.
