I read that too. He's be good for the right price and CBJ would be hungry for draft picks. My only concern with him would be his history of injuries. - DarthKane
It's more than a history - he is always injured to the point of being unreliable. When he is healthy he is excellent but he is rarely healthy. |

Can you elaborate on your plans on how the Hawks end up with two top draft picks? Drafting Caufield and Byram would be a real coup for Stan! |

Imo if Chicago is interested in Murray I hear it's for draft picks, which is great for Chicago low draft picks on a solid top defenseman.
That leaves me to believe either Keith gets moved and or byram is not getting drafted in Chicago.
That's my humble opinion. Keith or Seabrook one of them I believe gets traded.

Gus is a LD but he plays both. He played on the right side when he played with Keith a bunch last season.
Why does Keith have to be traded in order to draft Byram? The LD/RD thing isn't insignificant but many player have no problem playing either. Byram even played some RD last season. The lineup I posted would have only Gustafsson on his off side and he played RD a lot last season.

The article in the Athletic said that they had just inquired about him and that things haven't progressed much. I think the "low draft pick" idea may be a bit premature. Solid/top defensemen usually (especially ones who are controlled a bit being RFA's) command a pretty penny in return. I would think CBJ would be asking for the moon to start.

Gus his normal side is LD where he is comfortable.
My reasoning on Keith or Seabrook getting moved . It's clear from the articles I've been reading that Keith, anisomov, saad all have been mentioned as being traded this summer.
Seabrook would be the best move , but in reality that ship has long sailed which leaves Keith as the easier and he still brings some value.
Chicago would more or less creating cap space |

I think any talk of Keith moving should be tempered. He still has a NMC, and has stated a number of times that he wants to stick around. I'm sure he would garner a great return and would be very coveted, but if he doesn't want to go, he's not going.
… obviously the same goes for Seabrook.

Agreed not a big fan injury prone players unless we have a very capable solution. Also, any contract would have to factor that in. One note, none of his injuries were to the same area, I guess that’s a good thing.
If we did something like that, I would like to get the rights to Duchene as part of the deal. |

Nobody is disputing the NMC . Things do change, and I'm not sure how a buyout with Keith affects their future cap.
But I wouldn't be surprised if one of them is moved.

I read another article that was more detailed and laid out a lot of what it would cost Chicago and it was more or less 3 or 4tg round picks .

Based on games played, he looks to be a little injury prone. Is he more of a stay at home guy? - z1990z

The Hawks can afford to add a player in the $4M-$6M range and a top-4 d-man is probably the best use of that cap space. They don't need to ship anyone out to do that and still have cap space to re-sign Cat/Strome/Kahun next summer.
I wouldn't trade Keith because I think he still adds value on the ice and having him in the lineup enhances the Hawks chances to win enough to make the playoffs next season whereas not having Keith reduces those chances. Seabrook, on the other hand, good luck moving that contract.
Saad and Anisimov are both good players and not really overpaid (much) for what they bring to the team. If you trade one of both of them the net cap space savings will be negligible if you replace them with players able to produce similar results. I'm not saying Stan shouldn't explore trading them but I doubt it will garner much in the way of cap savings.

Murphy has been in the league 6 years and has played 320 games. An average of 53 games a season.

That depends how you define "stay at home d-man". I think Murray will jump into the offense more than what I would consider a stay at home d-man. |

That's a bit misleading. He played 30 games his first season and was only in 52 games last year after surgery. The four years in between were: 73, 78, 77, 76 GP, and I don't have any info on healthy scratches considering he was still very young.

The latest HB Hotstove asks which FA D-man should be avoided. Everyone says Myers by a mile, so I have a follow up:
For the same money (since apparently that is what Myers is expected to make?), would you rather have Myers or Seabrook? - Chunk
In a perfect world? Neither. |

Offer Forsling and a #3 2019.
We shoukd subtract one dman if we acquire one. Dahlstrom and Koekkoek at this time are still considered to be depth.
You pay for defense and Karko, the Columbus GM (name abbreviated), will likely not accept less than a third. I am guessing that he may be intrigued to see if Forsling develops in Columbus NHL or as a top guy for half season n Cleveland AHL.
Karko might think, here is a talented guy maybe rushed who could turn out a nice bottom pair for new age dman. If nothing else Forsling could become one of the Columbus dman made available for the expansion draft. The Blue Jackets did unearth a.couple of " who is that; where did he come from" dmen in playoff loss to Boston. So maybe yes or maybe no a genuine interest in Forsling. |
