Blackhawks rumors (nothing earth shattering):

https://www.thefourthperi...e-very-active-this-summer

"The Blackhawks have already been linked to former Hawk and current Columbus Blue Jackets left wing Artemi Panarin, but he’s set to become the most sough-after free agent.

Bowman is expected to dip his toe in the Panarin waters and go from there, but the club will also be looking to add a two-way forward for its top-nine and a top-four defenceman.

The Blackhawks may also explore the goalie market and look to add a new backup, as the team is not expected to re-sign Cam Ward this off-season."

Rumors about the Canes shopping a D man for a top 6 forward:

https://www.thefourthperi...es-want-more-goal-scoring

"The Carolina Hurricanes are among the teams looking to add more fire power up front and could make a move to acquire a top-six forward later this month.

Blueliners Dougie Hamilton, Justin Faulk and Brett Pesce were dangled as trade bait during the regular-season and the Hurricanes remain willing to move one of them.

Faulk, who has a $4.833 million salary cap hit, is entering the final year of his contract; Hamilton has two-years left on his deal ($5.75 million cap hit), and Pesce has five-years remaining on his deal ($4.025 million cap hit)."

That is kind of surprising to me. I thought he was coming back.

What would it take to acquire Pesce? Could we move Saad + a pick for him?

Same here although I'm not upset about it either if Ward is for sure not an option. Just hope they can find a decent backup goalie on the cheap and on a one year deal.

Saad does seem like the only trade option as the Hawks wouldn't trade Toews, Kane, DeBrincat, or Strome just to acquire a top 4 defenseman. If that's the case, Saad + draft pick and/or prospect seems plausible. Who knows, maybe the Canes would have to pony up an asset on their side as well, again either a draft pick or prospect.

Agree with you & Bog. I'm fine with it, seeing as we all of a sudden have good, young goaltenders. I still expect a veteran to be signed.

Don’t need anything more than a good chowder and a lobster roll - cold....
- StLBravesFan

The only good clam chowder i had was fisherman wharf fresh in frisco. It would be cool to return to "SoCal" and "NoCal" for the many attractions i didn't have time for. I would love to take in a Blackhawks or Icehogs road game as well. Too expensive to live in (basicly merely to own real estate) in LA county and yes hockey is not a big deal. Traffic is a big deal though. There is a whole health food craze and the latest healthy food in Saddleback south LA county. I wonder if Anaheim has a small crazy intense fan
base.

What about Lener to be the successor to Crawford. 3 years 3.5 million per he splits time with Crawford because delia or any of are goalie prospects have number one potential just nhl backup at best. Saad a 4th for pesce but better have a plan to replace saad if this were to happen. otherwise keep saad and explore other options. See what vegas would want for McNabb or some other cap strap team.

Considering the rate that Boston teams have won this year it is probably the same clam chowder as originally bet last baseball series ....

Probably better just to read the Trib's Bowman interview without the added editorial overlay from a blog.

The editorial really didn't say anything at all, although I agree with Wiz ... lot's of clickbait out there.

I also don't entirely get the projected, who will make the team out of training camp projections - mainly because (case in point) Kyle Baun made the team out of a training camp, and frankly did it matter? Do any of those guys that barely get in ever do?

I remember a few excited posts about Paille (or fill in the blank, really) getting a try out --- again, that didn't matter then, so it is doubtful that those really low impact maneuvers are worth worrying about.

in the FWIW department (not much)

7 of the last 10 cup winners won the clinching game on the road: exceptions kings 2x and the hawks 1x.

There's always a few surprises, but I don't know that I see much of that for next season...training camp surprises I mean.

Kubalik appears penciled into the top 9. Maybe he pushes Caggiula into a 4th line role alongside Kampf and maybe some trades or an FA signing rearrange some of the line combos; but, I don't see many if any prospects pushing for roles and I'd be even more surprised if anyone grabbed a spot who was here on a tryout.

Never say never though I suppose.

[quote=wiz1901]Yeah, Hickey and Leddy seem like more like players who don't help the direction they are looking for, guys that have all around quickness and add shot blocking AND LEAN as the play defense.

Sure the Blackhawks have "assets' we just don't know if the rest of the league places as high a value on them long term, if we want to jettison them.

Not sure Pesce is a easy exit for Carolina unless they see something I don't. I thought he was a nice part of the big four (minus Hamilton who was the five) and good up and down the ice. I am green he costs you in more than on aspect.

I like the idea of seeing if Columbus will take a player and alter pick(s) for reclamation of Ryan Murray.

I ma most curious as to how quickly the hawks try and sign their own...and if they can keep the $ down, because Taylor Hall is starting to look Tavares like in his wait and see comments about re-upping in New Jersey.

If he had interest, I sure think he is worth a boatload of that Cap space.

And you all are correct: the Kane and Toews contracts are looking much sweeter after you look at what Skinner and the others are signing for....

They always were going to, it just happened a few years later than the FO expected.

So what's the better scenario;

1. Blows, with a chance for their first cup, blow a 3-2 lead, with a clinching game at home, to lose the cup, and have to wait another 50 years for another shot, or

2. Having to watch dbag Marchand with another cup

I can’t wait to try smoking brisket, but I want to get a bit better at it first.
- DarthKane
A suggestion for you. The first time you smoke a brisket don't buy the whole thing, flat and point, just order the point. The Flat is a thinner part of the brisket with very little fat in it. While the point is a bit thicker and has alot of fat in it. Smoke the point a coupe of times before you move up to the whole brisket. I made the mistake of trying to smoke the whole brisket my first time and wound up with an $80 chilli.

No to moving Saad. He’s too valuable for a playoff series.

I’d offer AA and Kahun.

Blackhawks are looking into Ryan Murray. Who else might they be looking at?

Here are 15 other potential trade targets to improve the backend.

Yes - the point - the deckel - makes the best sandwiches.
