For those that want the Hawks to be more physical or tougher to play against would you take Perry at about 57% salary ($5mil). Two years left on his contract. His injury was just an MCL and meniscus. He played the last 31 games after returning from the surgery. He did not produce much, but he was probably less than full strength. He just turned 34 in May 2019.

Saad - Toews - Perry
DB - Strome - Kane
Kubalik - Kahun - Sikura/Perlini
Caggiula - Kampf - Tanev

or

Saad - Toews - Kane
ADB - Strome - Perry
Kubalik - Kahun - Sikura/Perlini
Caggiula - Kampf - Tanev

Do I understand the blackened? That as much praise as a Turcotte or Zegras get out of the NTDP nationally that it's hard for you to see them ahead of Dach and Cozens? .........

I'm near positive you know this but wanna make sure.

My point was the entire grouping 3-10 of forwards is SO difficult to read and rank. I understand the Homegrown goalie rule for the CHL, and then a strong tier like this calls into play each and every attribute and the trying to delineate between big and compete levels is already a job in itself and then trying to project where the prospect can be as a high water mark, and what you are getting no matter if the mark isn't reached, is kinda overwhelming but that why there are professionals getting paid to make those calls.

Damn I love that Dobson last yr, today and tomorrow (although I wanted Wahlstrom and if it was a Dman Dobson). Smith is off the charts. ..... Interesting how most every Jrs Dman's chart shows the difficulty they have controlling entries against....... Indeed they are ALL a work in progress.

Re Dobson

Sometimes it is just the best scenario to take the kid with size feet and recognition if you feel he is going to be a pro...over trying to shoot for the fence with an elite skilled guy who may disappoint...and that doesn't mean Ty Smith or Boqvist do but there is nothing wrong with leaving the first night of the draft feeling you most likely got a future NHLer, even if they end not being that elite top pair guy that so many people project so many of these kids to be.

What’s Stan’s best shot at getting two top ten picks? Detroit?

Detroit is light on impact defensemen prospects....

Boqvist + Kahun for the 6th overall?

Stan drafts Byram at 3 and one of Turcotte, Cozens, or Zergas at 6?

Boqvist was #8 last season and just had a marvelous 1st year in N.A. where he proved he was worthy of the #8 pick - hopefully Stan is not considering trading him. Beaudin or Mitchell or even Jokiharju - maybe - but not Boqvist.

On the day we're getting Perry ... what are the odds of that!?

Good luck!!

I don't want Perry btw. I hate Anaheim Ducks, the core 3 especially.

True, but I doubt those other guys fetch the 6th pick.

After a season of observing Bovqist playing for one of the best organizations in junior hockey run by real hockey men (with cameo appearances from Bryan Campbell) - to trade him now would mean Hockey Ops has decided he is not the impact, game changing player they thought he would be when they drafted him (ahead of guys like Noah Dobson and Evan Bouchard BTW).

Doubtful any trade is gonna happen. Draft and develop is the mantra.

Historically, top 10 pick trades are for other pick packages or for elite players, so the likelihood of getting a #6 for a prospect and middle 6 player is low. Detroit also skipped on drafting any d-men last year in the 1st round (including Boqvist) so they probably aren't as concerned with their defense prospect group as you think.

Was hoping to see you before the draft. You always have a great handle on Euro kids. Any thoughts on them is appreciated.
- Mr Ricochet

Thanks! Well I've seen Kakko playing most of them obviously. Too bad he is taken before Hawks pick. Call me a homer but I would take him number one.

I like Philip Broberg a lot, has good upside but he might be worth top 10 pick just not top 5. Swedish goalie Hugo Alnefelt is someone I wuold consider in later picks, say 4th round earliest.

What are the odds that Hughes goes #1? 90%? If Kakko goes first, could NY pick Byram, and leave Hughes for us? Doubtful, but that's the only way I see either Hughes or Kakko dropping out of the top 2.

Arm chair trade that won't happen but for discussion sake.

Hawks trade the 3rd overall pick to L.A. for their 5th and 22nd.

L.A. draft bowen hawks draft Turcotte Cozens or Dach.

Then hawks package Gust the 22nd to Detroit for their 35th and 60th 2nd round picks
or Gust 22nd and 4th to Carolina for pesce and roy

Someone needs to lay that POS Marchand out. What a douchbag hoping that the Blows make me pay for that cheap shot.

He's nothing but a little scum-bag. Agree completely. Call me stupid, but is this weakest pair of teams in the Finals in the last 10 years? The Blues, although I hope they win, don't impress at all. And tho Boston is a relatively good team, I find them far from overwhelming. Collectively to me, they seem maybe slightly above average. but not by much.

I agree. I don't see the point in trading Boqvist for a similar pick (8 vs 6) a year later. Especially after he had a very solid season. The Hawks would need to be disappointed with his progress, but I don't see it, just IMO.

Probably not - but if they get 6 for Boqvist, they can take Byram at 3 and still get one of Cozens, Turcotte, Dach, Zegras....
