If we were doing a full 7 round mock then trades would make sense.

But in something fake like this, why would anyone care throwing in extra picks in rounds 2-7? Not like they will be used in the draft anyway. It's like free monopoly money

I don't know, I like the trade aspect of it. I think if TJ dropped one of the picks or maybe jimbo added a middling prospect I think it would have went right through. Jimbo definitely was winning that trade.

Understand the sentiment, but I am keeping the possibility for trades in the mock draft. I will try and see if comments can be left on the poll site, like last year, and ask people to weigh why a deal or pick may be viewed as unfair.

The Rangers and Blackhawks picks will be posted late this afternoon. I have my 12th graders' senior play today, so will be out of pocket for a while.

I think the difference between 13th overall and 22nd in this draft is LARGE

there is so much potential for a highly ranked player to fall into that range, especially with the unknown factors of where Caufield and Podkolzin are falling

That's the thing since those prosepcts, picks don't matter anyway why don't they just throw it in? Oh well maybe I am thinking too much on this

It's your draft, don't let my opinion sway you

You better pick Kakko or you have some explaining to do

I honestly think where the perception of the trade was bad was all those late round picks throw in. I think if slim has just left all the later picks off, the trade itself wouldn't look that bad.

This draft seems to be pretty deep. I think some good players could fall to the late teens early 20's.

I just want the real draft to be here already damnit!

all I know is, in real life in the draft, if my team was picking 13th, it would take A LOT to get me to go down to 22nd

I really think the difference is astronomical

I guess we just look at it and try to make it a bit realistic. I didn't think the trade was all that bad, just 1 tweek and it would have been fine. imo I voted for it though because it is just for fun

I actually think value wise, you weren't that far off. You took a cap dump, a 1st and a 2nd. I think though if it was next year's 2nd and didn't include approximately 50 late round picks, no one would have raised as much a stink. I had a manager who always would tell me "perception is reality". I joked about how he was doing the Ditka for the draft, and people would look at that and think it's way more than it actually is. The extra 2nd would probably have more value on a chart than all the late rounders combined, but perception is reality.

Its funny but big drops really don't happen to often. I think because if a team is looking at a certain player, he has to run around to all the GM's picking before him and make sure they aren't picking that player

I am glad people couldn't block what we got for the Bruins for Rick Nash because that looks pretty damn unrealistic

I'm going to have a tough time if Hayes signs with Philly. I might need a support group

I think in this draft, because defensemen are so rare at this top of it, you could see a team grab one of the other defensemen like Soderstrom, York, Broberg going way earlier than projected causing some of these forwards to unexpectedly drop to the 13 range

I think the Russian might free fall. If he makes it to the teens, the Rangers need to be on that and try to move up from the 20th.

I absolutely hope the Rangers move up, if it's to grab any of the projected top 10 forwards and they drop, any of them really

if they stay at 20, I'd be fine with taking a defenseman, I just dont want them trading up to take a defenseman

right now we have like 15 of em

Unless that defenseman could be a potential top pairing, I want all the best forward through round 1 & 2. I want some goddamned snipers

I’m just going off the original post... ok start with 1,3 for sure then who would you want as the player in the deal? Kings have missed out on a lot of drafts lately with either trading away picks for cup runs or missing on picks, VILARDI!.. they will be cautious in giving away more picks
- KINGS67

I could care less about whether you guys get to make trades.
This is already a sunshiny Friday simply because there was a Kings fan on here stating how bad LA's picking of Vilardi was!!!!!
Gold, Jerry!!! I f'n love it.

not sure if you guys saw this Brooks article about JD's plan to reshape Hartford, good stuff

I dont think anything illustrated things were (frank)ed up in Hartford more than Hajek being awful all year up there, we are all like what they hell is wrong with this guy, and then he comes here and he looks fantastic

"you also don’t want to necessarily win an AHL championship with a team that has eight 32-year-olds."
