WIN would need to include more in that deal IMO - Crushers68
Don't think so. Sure, I think most people would agree that purely as a player on the ice Hall > Laine, but if a trade like that were to go down you also have to factor in the age of the players involved as well as their current contract (UFA/RFA) status. If the deal was Hall for Laine (assuming it doesn't include Hall immediately getting an extension) I think the age and RFA status of Laine cancel out the difference in player. If anything, to be honest, if Winnipeg is looking at Hall as a rental I think they'd want more from NJ in that deal... |

roger that. I was just throwing it out there for kicks. Does everyone else agree? - MartysBetter88
The more I think of it, I would trade Hall. He'll be declining soon, maybe sooner with his injuries. Someone else mentioned the gap in age from Hall to our youngsters.
We get rid of that and we can get a top prospect and prob 2 1sts. That can help for 10-15 yrs, vs what Hall would have left to give. |

Oh I'm definitely assuming Hall would not be a rental for WPG. If that's the case, I still think WPG has to add more to get Hall. Laine is young and a sniper, but like whats his name said, streaky and doesn't play as complete of a game as Hall. Maybe that will come with more development. |

I wouldn't underestimate Halls relationship with Nico in all this. |

meh, I would. I don't think these "buddy-buddy" things are as strong of determining factors as players' families, such as kids going to school.. the location to raise their kids/have a family.. where the wife wants to live.. how far they live from other family, etc. And of course.. the Benjamins. |

This is correct.
But why limit to Jets. For example, Avs said they want Panarin. They will not get him. Hall is better, cheaper for a year and they have prospects and picks to trade to match with Nico/Jack time horizion. That said I love Hall and want him to stay. But if he wants out, trade his a$$ for a nice haul. |

Oh I don't mean about Hall resigning, that's a different story. I was talking about the scenario of actively shopping him regardless of his intentions. |

He’s 27 and was league mvp last year. Wtf?!
I mean nothing wrong with going trade for the right package but those rarely work out and he’s got very limited contract term left so good luck; but maybe.

And if Edmonton is shopping Jesse Puljujarvi I hope Shero is all in, say Santini and a second, +? |

Under Holland, NJ can no longer rip Edmonton off. It'd be one for one, Puljujarvi for Zacha. And I wouldn't make that trade.
Zacha's an NHLer, despite his production. Puljujarvi isn't, yet, and he thinks he is. Being drafted 3rd overall got to his head and him and his agent keep nagging Edmonton.
If I was the Oilers, I'd move him, but I'd definitely be looking for another former first round player (top 10 pick) who isn't living up to expectations. |

You're setting yourself up to be very disappointed with the return for Hall (IF he's traded). Anytime one of these pending-UFA-superstars is traded the return is kind of underwhelming, especially if it doesn't happen until well into next season. |

Call me crazy but I am happy Hall is saying he's not the priority right now. To me it shows that he understands the bigger picture and that there is an order to things here. Shero knows he needs to take care all the other pieces this offseason, and Hall is letting him go to work without the distraction of also negotiating a long term deal with the franchise cornerstone at the same time.
If you trusted Ray a month ago, there's been no reason to all of a sudden freak out that Hall is going to bolt, outside of a tweet from an irrelevant reporter citing "unnamed sources". |

Not sure I agree. OTT got a very nice package for Duschene
I nstead, the Blue Jackets (33-23-3) gave up quality forward prospect Vitaly Abramov, B-level forward prospect Jonathan Davidsson, a first-round pick and another first-round pick if Duchene, an unrestricted free agent on July 1, re-signs with Columbus. The Blue Jackets also got defenseman prospect Julius Bergman.
I think Hall could garner even more given his recent MVP |

Yeah, now that Skinner got 8 years 72 million what’s Halls price tag now? 8 years, 84 million? |

Probably. Between 10 and 12 is what we'll expect. |
