[quote=paulr]There will be an explosion regardless who Bowman drafts. If Bowman were to somehow end up with Jack Hughes, trade a 4th round pick for Connor McDavid and have Edmonton pay half his salary there will be posters crying for Stan's head. It's just what BOD fans do.

Screaming about a trade Stan failed to make, a 4th line scrub he neglected off the waiver wire, a trade made too late and undermining the value of an aging vet when the Hawks could have acquired two mythical second rounders, the constant McMeddling of the FO and interfering with Hockey Ops, etc...

It’s just instinctual and a rite of passage at this point.

Tend to agree with you about trusting who the Hawks pick toward the top of the draft. Boqvist has been the highest they’ve picked and while the jury is still out, they’ve only managed to really screw up on one first rounder (McNeil).

I think every other player has spent some time in the NHL and for more than just a cup of coffee.

I’d likely be happy with any one of Turcotte, Byram, Cozens, Zegras or Dach...sorry Darth.

Don’t forget timing. It’s customary to criticize the timing of every move Stan make.

Also, I don’t accept your apology.

Can’t afford angry players with the way the PK has been playing.

I don't know how your stock goes up when your not playing ,Combine I guess . Not much else to chat about at the moment .Hope your right and Turrcotte not taken at 3 ,I got a sneaky feeling they may be taking him .
- oldduffman

Personally I hope they take him, but they might not. Point is, I’ll welcome any one of the frequently named prospects with open arms. Have a little faith man...unless they draft the Russian. I don’t want the Russian.

Old school mean. Refuses to lose a puck battle...Tough as nails...stays on his feet when multiple opponents are trying to close him down.
Not angry, but just tough to compare him to others at his present size speed, and upside imo.

I don’t like how long it’s taking him to make a decision on #3 overall. Should’ve made up his mind and announced it weeks ago. Would’ve given him more leverage in a trade if there’s someone else who really covets that player.

There’s a 145 pound 5’ 3” ‘puck moving’ defenseman from France that Stan has his eyes on . Huet’s nephew.

Gonna be Turcotte, Byram or Cozens Like what each of them offer . It's gonna be a tough decision. Don't understand the talk of trading Boquist he is easily their top prospect.
Hope the Hawks are able to take advantage of some of these cap teams to fill some holes in roster.
Should be a fun few weeks.

Also, FWIW:

Very few of the recent rankings have Turcotte below the 4-5 range.

This is one of the few sites I use all year long to look at....because I like to get a chuckle at their first round, as early onesvwere always fo out in space.... the way they come up with their first round must be derived via that page you linked...they do some kind of consensus of all of those draft sites.

The thing is none of those sites or me , are the true paid NHL evaluators who rank this same guys.

But I agree - we are getting a good one, and not reason to get lathered in debate about them but curious as how they land for sure.

Why is there absolutely zero love for Connor McMichael? I don't know how many London Knight players have outplayed their draft rankings now. It's not a few.

Larry Fisher's is the most laughable mock draft every year.

I know from experience an aggressive hockey dad or mom is a huge pain in the ass and something management usually looks to avoid. I don't know anything about the habits of Turcotte's parents these days other than the dad being involved in game skills so I'm not poopting on them. But they are local. In some cases that could be strike one.

I can't wait for the explosion when none of the above are drafted by Stan.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised to hear the name Kirby Dach called out at #3.

Yes but is he angry because he can't score? Then that would remind me of Kessler.

I think we all would like to see Seabrook moved, however that is virtually impossible at this point. Keith would be the easier , better return and wouldn't cost Chicago a arm and a leg.

Imho it boils down to Cozens (what we need in a top six forward especially in playoff brand hockey)
Vs

Byram ( so called best skill set - which is overated as a determining factor - despite uncertainty to achieve top pairing). I mean, there isn't even a consensus if he surely becomes a top pair guy. So you still want to call him the best talented prospect. Maybe choose a prospect you feel has the skill set and or intangibles which best helps your team.

I see either a forward or a dman whom both could impact Chicago. So i pull Cizens out of a group vs Byram as two whom could impact the Blackhawks more than the others

You can include your favorite should it be Turcotte, Zegras, Caufield with Cozens. I say Dach is just a tad below this group. Zegras is a real attractive talent to land and someone will grab him somewhere 5-10.

A home run choice and darkhorse is the russian Pod.

So it is a Byram vs your favorite and for myself it it Cozens just adds what we need.

The others are not bad choices. If you insist on best talented player, it might be difficult to argue agsinst Byram. The others are all pretty close and it becomes do you like what one prospect's strength is more than another prospect's strong suit.

IF YOUR SCOUTS ARE ALL AGRReeMENT ON Byram then you have a really tough choice. You know how awesome Byram and Maker would be with those talented forwards on the Avalanche? Well Byram and Boqvist is the.
Chicago version even if we do not have the Raatanen MacKinnon punch)

If you draft Byram you do not trade Jokiharju..He is the closest to regular nhl duty. And please carefully read scouting reports on Byram ......not nhl ready for this fall.
