Van's making calls on every available D at this point in time.

If it were up to me:

Hughes Tanev (I think they thrive as a pairing & corsi helps Tanev stay healthy)
Rathbone C.Miller (acquired in OJ trade at the draft)
Tryamkin Stecher

- DrChristianTroy

I doubt we ever see Tryamkin back in Van.

Biech just put out that Pierre Lebrun was saying Canucks were heavily interested in Marcus Johnasson at the TDL. Boston paid a 2nd in 19 and 4th in 2020. Benning did say he wasn't parting with picks.

Might revisit on July 1st. I was thinking 4 years 5 AAV. Would make a nice compliment to Bo's RW

I don't know what will happen this year. I do find it funny hearing comments about the D or team when there should be some major changes this year.

We will see

Alright then you’re just an idiot then. Perimeter players dont score the majority of their goals net front.

Good job overrating the BCHL friend. You can watch any highlight package and less than 50% of his highlight goals are not from the front of the net. If that was the case, I don't think scout would be talking about a player ranked above 10. They would be talking about a legit top 5 player.

Interesting thing about Zaitsev he has a 3 mil bonus July 1 that TO have to pay if he is not traded by then. He also has a NMC (10 teams) that kicks in July 1 st. If he is traded before July 1 he loses the NTC but costs his new team 3 mil more.

Says he takes 60% of his shot from high danger areas and uses his speed to get there. Completely agree. Like the video, very thorough. But it doesn't say perimeter player at all. Mostly offensive skillset but not complete enough to be a top5 pick. Not great in his own end/puck watches, did you watch this video

60% in the BCHL.

The guy I have ranked one spot ahead of him is at 88.5 in the OHL.

I also don't see either of them being NHL centres.

I agree, he's likely a winger. But when I've watched him he goes at the net hard. If anything, he's not great in his own end or without the puck.

23 % in the highest danger area. Vs McMichael who is double that.

Just about every junior player needs to be better in their own end.

The sense I’m getting is that it’s a 3-horse race for the Blackhawks for the third pick. Byram, Turcotte, Zegras. But Cole Caufield did say he thinks he belongs in the discussion for third overall. #NHLCombine

That's fine, When it's 60% shots from the slot down you're not a perimeter guy. Think we're just going to have to disagree on the one.

How does a person who grew up in a locker room environment not understand the importance of getting along with your fellow teammates?

Is that a narrative or a known?

- bloatedmosquito

I’ve been in plenty of locker rooms with plenty of Richards. (Pun intended). There’s just all kinds of people.

“Coming out of the combine, I felt even better and excited about the player we’re going to get at No. 10,” said Benning. “The kids were excellent in the interviews because they can get into a room with adults and sell themselves on what they can do and what they can get better at.

“I’m super excited about the pick.”

That’s because there were no interview red flags, only positive confirmation of what they already knew and heard about the players.

“If we have to (in addition to the 10th pick) give up a second-round pick, that’s too much because we feel the draft is deep enough,” added Benning. “And you just don’t know how the draft is going to fall. We could have a player rated in the top six falling to us at 10.”

“It was pretty normal,” he said Tuesday. “They want to know about your family and how you view yourself as a player and how you viewed your season. I got a pretty good feel from a lot of teams and I thought it (Vancouver) went well and I was pretty happy with it.”

Boldy

Asked if he’s coming to Vancouver for a followup interview, he said: “No, not that I know of.”
