I gave EP both attributes. His one timer gave him sniper skills. - Nighthawk
He’s a limitless talent. When they finally give him a linemate to play off of, he’ll blow people’s minds. |

For me: Worst case scenario is Newhook which is a pretty (frank)ing awesome worst case scenario. Best case - one of Zegras, Dach or Boldy fall to us - DrChristianTroy
I’m ok with Newhook simply because he has a high ceiling. Type of pick we need to make given our devastating lack of skill on this team. Still prefer Boldy but I wouldn’t be to crushed |

Pretty much my take also. Newhook flies under the radar in the BCHL but has all the tools & already plays 2-way hockey. |

Given that Newhook committed to the NCAA while in grade 10 says a lot about him & the NCAA seeing his talent.
Give him more talent to play with & against older players he will shine & be well worth picking. |

Carol, how much do you think Elder is asking for on, let's say, a 3-year deal? |

Zaitsev = Trash
Bottom pairing d-man who excels at nothing, sucks at driving play and has a terrible contract.

therefore, Benning is willing to pay a premium for him. |

Just wait ‘til he & Boldy wind up on a line together @ BC... Newhook will be a redraft riser. |

For those prospect hounds, what are your best/worst case scenarios for #10. I mean, barring something stupid, like Hughes slipping to 10, or Benning selecting Gunnarsson (again) with his 1st round pick. - 1970vintage
Best case scenario is that Turcotte is still available at 10 but I think at this point most people have him top 5. If Zegras, Dach or Cozens are there at 10, I think that should be viewed as a major win.
Worst case would be trading up a few spots IMO but as far as picking a player in that range Soderstrom, York or Harley would be disappointing. |

Clearly he needs a replacement for hutton to be a complete liability. I did think he stepped up his game on the boston series though. But yeah, i hope this isnt the move he makes |

It's like ohhhh he's right handed I must inquire.
We just got rid of right shot d-man who who bleeds scoring chances, lets bring another one in. |

Best case Boldy.
If Caulfield/Podkolzin fall then trade down for 14oa & 45oa. Gamble we can get Newhook.
Worst case taking D.

I would take him as long as the asset that comes with him is good.
Kadri, Zaitsev and Bracco

we can't go more than an entire season without having a complete anchor of a defenseman (Gudbranson), so clearly we need to inquire about Zaitsev. |

EDIT*** I was being too positive - only considering players I like... Actual worst worst worst case scenario is passing on any of those guys for Cozens/Caufield/Broberg/Soderstrom. - DrChristianTroy
Do you believe those are the widest margins? Last year I would say Hughes was probably the best case scenario for Vancouver. I wanted Zadina, but Hughes is a good consolation. There are probably teams ahead of Vancouver who have different priorities. Is there a chance that someone who by all accounts shouldn't be there but is? Also, 10 is pretty far down the list, and the second/third tiers are gone, is there a scenario you could see where Benning reaches for someone who should really be going much later but because of his (misguided) sense of what the team needs he drafts another Virtanen. |

I am holding to my guns when I say if Podolzkin is there a 10 Benning is going to take him. He has gone from 3 to 15. Benning will do it. |

I guess it depends on whose rankings you’re using to ponder these scenarios. I consider Cozens and Caufield egregious reaches at 10 while Zegras/Dach/Boldy/Newhook are all inside my top 8. |

Furthermore why a trade down comes into play imo. |
