Wow people are naive. It is very easy to avoid tampering. Happens all the time. Again, look how quickly Stone signed a massive deal. You think Vegas gives up Brainstorm without having a very clear indication from Stone's camp? You think Stone magically agreed to all those terms in one day?
Same thing with Hayes. Vignault coached him. He knows a couple guys on the team. Maybe they share agents. Hey Chevy, we'd give you a pick for Hayes rights but we're not sure if he's interested in committing long term. Hmm, let me get back to you...yeah so I made a few calls. I sense he's looking for someone in the East, some stability (ie ntc/nmc), and probably a number that starts with a $4 (ie lingo for $40M+ deal).
So Philly hasn't spoken to Hayes or his agent but they've been given enough hints on how to get this done. - uofcguy
How does it feel? To be Mark Stone?

More and more important to be pro active to acquire their ufa rights because other teams are very desperate to acquire the big fish to create a fan buzz to sell seasons tickets. It is getting more and more expensive to run a franchise so you need to make the playoffs more than ever to make a profit. Also, it's better to trade other players for ufa rights in case a city like Edmonton, Columbus or Winnipeg might not be the most ideal picks for other future key rfa's. - fatty_mcmanboobs
I never used to be a fan of trading for a players rights but with so many GMs doing it now you almost have to if you want to have any chance of signing the player you want. Unless you're Tavares and the Leafs. 😉 |

There are more options than own or rent. My sources say Tanner is a squatter. The savings are wasted on sweaty Galchenyuk gear. Takes a few weeks before his gear gets sweaty though. |

* Brayden Schenn has jumped up several levels in this series. He is a legit contender for the playoff MVP. - eklund
What? Here is a list of all Blues players that would be ahead in the MVP race before Brayden Schenn:
Forwards:
Tarasenko
Schwartz
O'Reilly
Sundqvist
Maroon
Bozak
Defense:
Pietrangelo
Parayko
Dunn
Goalie:
Binnington

Yep, my vote at this point is Schwartz, Tarasenko, Parayko or Binnington. Schenn has been good, but not MVP good.

How'd that wink-and-a-nod deal work out for Buffalo when they traded a pick for Vesey? |

The same way most things work out in Buffalo sports |

Again, they were probably given a sense that Vesey is open to this or that. Then when the real discussions started they couldn't reach a deal. That also happens frequently. But it's pretty naive to think a team acquires the rights for player X and it's totally out of the blue without any "hints" from the player's camp. Agents are very clever about how to get the "word" out there... |

Would love to see you guys get a chance to win it at home. That place would be facking bananas - Vukota
That would be ideal but it would also be nice to see the Blues win it in Boston in game 7.
Would love to see that cup shoved in Boston's face on their home ice!

If it really is 'no secret that Duchene and the Predators are talking" then why hasn't Nashville been charged with tampering? |

There's no skype or what's app provision in the CBA. |

Duchene's agent simply leaks stuff like...
-Matt enjoyed how Columbus treated him...aka he wants to join a well-respected organization.
-Matt appreciated Columbus' attempt to win a Cup at all costs...aka he wants to sign with an organization with a window to win
-Matt's wife/family have ties to Nashville
-Matt is building a home in Nashville
That kind of stuff is very easy to leak to the media or via social media. So Nashville knows they tick all of these boxes without ever actually speaking to Duchene. Hence no tampering. Teams can also leak clear hints...we'd like to upgrade our forwards, we'd love to "trade" for a 1C but the costs are really high. Hmm, seems like Nashville might be interested in Duchene too.
