More and more important to be pro active to acquire their ufa rights because other teams are very desperate to acquire the big fish to create a fan buzz to sell seasons tickets. It is getting more and more expensive to run a franchise so you need to make the playoffs more than ever to make a profit. Also, it's better to trade other players for ufa rights in case a city like Edmonton, Columbus or Winnipeg might not be the most ideal picks for other future key rfa's.

Wow people are naive. It is very easy to avoid tampering. Happens all the time. Again, look how quickly Stone signed a massive deal. You think Vegas gives up Brainstorm without having a very clear indication from Stone's camp? You think Stone magically agreed to all those terms in one day?
