I agree with all that. I also think JB has a fair amount of work to accomplish in order to finish out of the top 5 or 10, and Skinner is only the beginning. We finished in the bottom 10 with him, after all.

I’m a pro Botterill guy, it if he fails to sign Skinner and then overpays for players who are far worse to compensate he needs to be fired.

With that being said I’m confident he won’t but.....

I'm a half-Bott guy, but I think he gets it done.
But dang, if he doesn't, it leaves a sizable crater on the depth chart. And the options to fill it are neither cheap nor plentiful.

I like him too. I think his perceived deficiencies are way overblown.

I appreciate that Skinner walking away would be a huge blow to the team. But fans' comments regarding the team have been negative for quite a while.

I'm sure there is some backup plan in place to placate fans in the event of Skinner leaving. They'll trot out a couple of draft picks and some middling free agents and tell everyone they decided it's better to spend that high salary around among a couple of players. They'll talk about how much their young players have matured and improved.

Sabre fans have swallowed a lot of crap over the years, and we've always come back for more. Look at Buffalo's viewership ratings for the playoffs. I think that signals to ownership and management that we'll always be there. I'm sure a few season tickets might not be renewed, but not enough to impact the bottom line.

I think JB is playing chicken, but he realizes he's has to flinch. He'll get it done, but probably at a price point 75% of us won't like

He can't trade for a guy, give the fans a taste of a 40 goal scorer, let him walk and expect to keep his job. He almost literally has to sign Skinner

Average goaltending would’ve gotten us outta the bottom 10.

I think Hutton/Ullmark get better results with a (hopefully) coaching upgrade.

I also think people are really underestimating how big of a jump Dahlin is going to make. Mittelstadt too.

I like your positive outlook and i agree with the points you make. I was thinking about Mitts and I also think he is going to significantly improve next year. 20/20 is well within his reach.
