Every year I think team X is totally screwed with the cap, and every year that team finds a way to offload their problems. Wish the Sabres could find a way, although their cap situation isn't exactly dire.

You're right, Callahan is a problem for them but it's only one more year. I think it's accurate they'll find a home for him but it'll indeed cost them someone they like.

Tampa has some good young forwards about ready to come up to the big club too:
Verhaeghe, Barre-Boulet, Raddych and Volkov

Yeah, pretty much the whole season hinges on this guy. Defense should be good, but ya GOTTA score points.

I think it’s gonna be an 8-8ish season, maybe even sub .500
But i also think we are heading in the right direction & you’ll see overall growth from the
D-line & O-line especially

But yeah...
how good we are this year and beyond is gonna depend on how far Allen progresses

Geez, and now we can forward to Detroit having a similar turnaround? Looking like it's gonna be a tough division for years to come. Ah the legendarily tough and unfortunately named "Atlantic Division".

Well the Head scout for Tampa (Al Murray) was the guy telling Yzerman to to pick

He was also the head scout that built the Kings’ Cup teams drafting Quick, Kopitar, Brown & others

Tampa just named him AsstGM and gave him a raise to keep him

I’d offer him triple to come here & be our head scout / asst gm

I'm not going to go look up his contract situation. You made it clear he has one. Why is TB going to grant us permission to talk to him about a parallel job?

I could almost guarantee Botterill isn't clamoring to hire the guy who has a 50/50 shot to replace him in 12 months

Botts also has his Pitt guys in place already. He is most likely loyal to them.

I think Pegula has his guys on both Bills/Sabres.

Unless it’s another bottom 5-10 finish I don’t see Botterill fired.

Or he (frank)s this Skinner deal up

I guess that would be determined by what happens this year with Botts

Also, as a scout he can pretty much live where he wants
If he’s GM he’d pretty much have to be in Buffalo

I agree with all that. I also think JB has a fair amount of work to accomplish in order to finish out of the top 5 or 10, and Skinner is only the beginning. We finished in the bottom 10 with him, after all.

Idk, maybe 9th or 10th in the conference saves his job. Maybe not

I think Botts could survive another bottom 5 finish.

I was there in the waning days of Darcy when the fans were calling for his head. Murray won't last til Thanksgiving if they're clearly out of it. KBC will be a poopshow

Edit: I said Murray. Leaving it

Average goaltending would’ve gotten us outta the bottom 10.

I think Hutton/Ullmark get better results with a (hopefully) coaching upgrade.

I also think people are really underestimating how big of a jump Dahlin is going to make. Mittelstadt too.

Couple decent adds and we’re in great shape

Pretty sure they extended him when they gave him the Asst GM title

So good point...
probably would have to name him GM
Or Team President / Scouting director
Something like that
