Injuries, obviously, skew that.
- Powerslave

They happen and unfortunately effected the outcome of we lost that trade.

That’s a pretty lopsided deal 28 yrs later.

Question for you all

What would cause you to consider trading the 7th overall?
The more specificity the better in describing the trigger...don't necessarily need Player names, maybe descriptions of player / position.
I.e. young Center with 2nd/1st upside ...already producing 45+ points (Example only)

Pretty much your example, plus good term (3+ years or an upcoming RFA) which probably doesnt exist for our 7th

Realistically, no. Maybe they'd move up or down a little, but that rarely happens and isn't really where you're going. Offer me a top 10 pick from the last 3 years that I absolutely love, and there's a conversation. Can't imagine anyone doing that though.

Coyotes wouldn’t do that but I see that as the value as well.

Trouba/a 2nd line Center/a 60 point RW who can anchor a 2nd line

Anything to help us this year. No doubt in my mind that trading it is the right thing to do

Right, probably takes a GM change for that kind of deal. If Ken Holland called and said Bouchard wasn't his guy and wanted to swap for #7, I'm talking for sure.

Id deal it for a top three forward, young with term left who is already producing in the nhl, or a top three dman, same credentials as above.
Not sure 7 alone gets something like that but that's the only way Id move the pick.

Eh. This team needs guys who match Dahlin’s timeline.

It needs to be a player 24 and under if we’re trading it.

Essentially all of the guys worth trading for you would have to either overpay for, or aren’t available. Hence why the best method is through the draft. We have to wait longer for them to develop but they are const controlled and only costed the pick used to draft them.

Trouba turned 25 three months ago. He's "basically" an old 24

Not really @ you, 89, but here is to the larger convo.

A friend of mine is good friends with a former 2nd overall pick that some would say has had a disappointing career hampered with injuries. Went to his wedding and has been to his home in Idaho. Got him into red wine. Not Eichel or Reinhardt. Rhymes with Robby Byan.

Anyways, apparently Karlsson hates going out for dinner and being interrupted by annoying douche sens fans (are there any other type?) while eating in restaurants. Prefers more anonymity while he dines and not 34 douches walking up to him and asking for a selfie.

If his wife want to live close to home, and snaps the whip, I can see him going back to Ottawa. Montreal? Their rabid fan base is even more obnoxious and douchey.

Buffalo, despite its amount of douches, may be a good landing place for him.

- Da_Cashman

Seems he has some " baggage" They would eat him alive in Montreal. He would cost a lot for us to sign him.

so far sounds tough to acquire the talent people would be looking for in return.
But solid input.

Where term is defined as 2+ years or RFA equal

And young is defined as 26 or younger

Nine responses so far...good progress!
I am hoping for 25 different respondents

If you have not taken the survey yet, I invite you to do so...
It only takes about 3-4 minutes as there re only 3 questions

I wouldn't want to pass up on drafting Caufield if we had the chance, so I would pass on that. I would do the other 1st we have and Nylander for Trouba.
