No ill will Boss, but this honestly strikes me as being about as objective as an argument over the superiority of strawberry ice cream in relation to orange shurbert. It's really just a question of perspective and personal preference.

The sammers do not care "where a player is picked"

I do care. I sat through a purposely losing season for him to go 2oa

Hopefully he lives up to that draft position, but leon being picked 1 pick later , is making it worse.

I feel his family name has helped him get noticed and drafted early.
I've met him and was not impressed (not great to fans)
No letter on his jersey
No PK
Not great off ice stories

Pommer was a 2nd round pick.
Worked his way up with hard work and determination
Great guy off the ice. Great to fans and everyone around him.
Scored the biggest goal in Sabres history
Kinda a sniper vs. Passer
Played a 200 foot game and on the pk
Wore the C

I apologize to the Sam fans, as he played very well the middle part of the season.

He is young and is getting better

- Boss34

Why are we always living in the past here. Find me one person who was demanding Leon over Sam. Sam's a good player and there's no debate. Who gives a damn if Leon is better. So be it. When the Sabres are able to send a scout, or even an idiot, into the future to scout out draft classes from years past to make sure they pick the best player.

It's not, nor will ever be, an exact science. All teams have busts to their names, Michael Dal Colle STILL doesn't play for the Islanders, and Ehlers is a pretty great player. Bennett is a 3rd line checking forward. It is what it is.

I had to wonder after hearing this if that removes Caufield from consideration at pick 7
- joevthree

I would like to believe, not a chance. When you have a guy that can potentially pot 50, you don't give a poop if he has a physical game. I don't think people care that DeBrincat doesn't push people around.

I wanted Leon but was ok with Reinhart.

I don’t fault them for taking him but I would’ve preferred someone with better physical traits for a 2OA

In the end Reinhart is a very nice player on a good deal for now.

With how poor Sobotka/Mitts was at times, I have to wonder how the season would’ve been different with

Eichel
Reinhart
Rodrigues
Larsson

As consistent centers.

Vegas needs cap space. Trade Hunwick and a 3rd for Reeves and Mcnabb.
- adambuffalo

Isn't there a term in the Hunwick/Sheary trade that if we trade him before his contract ends that we owe them like a 3rd rounder or something?

I think we both realize that they are at completely different stages of their careers last season.

Pommer s 2nd and third full year in the nhl
34 goals 34 assists
27 goals 53 assists

Sam 2nd and 3rd years in the nhl

17 goals 30 assists
25 goals 25 assists

See the difference. Aside from one guy being a gem of a find in the 2nd round vs. 2nd oa

- Boss34

Jason Pominville was 25 years old in his second NHL season. Sam Reinhart was 21.

Would anyone object to Wayne Simmonds
- SABRES 89

As long as he is signed with hte idea of him being a short 1 or 2 year deal on 3rd line. Like a Vanek type offering. Possibly just to trade him at the deadline even. He doesn't have much left in that body that is only like 30?

But this was a dozen years ago for Pommer…

I don't think it applies today, Samson is far superior in almost every way from Jason. And that's no slight on Pommer, the guy is old now.

And I think you're discounting that Pommer was much older when he got those totals. What Sam's ceiling is, I think, is unreached. 65pts out of a 21 year old is pretty darn good. Who will have the better career? Still undecided.

Your thoughts are welcomed.

In my post in the middle of the Page in the link below, I presented the results of the Survey for the upcoming Mock Draft.
https://www.hockeybuzz.co...?thread_id=159998&page=16

My take-away's, and I welcome your input

A) Top 3 Team Needs
1- Center
2- Right Wing
3- Right Defense

B) Prospects by Position, rated in Top 10
* Center - 6 Prospect rated
- seems like most Mock Drafts have 3 maybe 4 taken in 1st 6 selections
(Hughes (1st), Turcotte (3rd), Cozens (5th), Dach (6th))
* Right Wing - 3 Prospects rated
- Kakko (2nd) goes early, leaving Caufield (7th) and Podkolzin
(Podkolzin is dropping like a rock in many Mock's I have seen recently
* Right defense - 1 Prospect appears on the list, but outside the Top 10
(Soderstrom, Sweden, he was not ranked in top 10 of the Survey responses)
* Left Defense - only 1 Propsects (Byram (4th) listed in our Top 10
* Left Wing - only Boldy (8th)

C) BPA:
* Caufield is rated 7th if the Mock goes according to our Survey

D) Attibutes
* Most Desired are:
- Snipper/Finisher
- 200 Ft Game
- Skating
* Least Desired
- Tough to Play Against, Compete, High Motor
- Playmaker
- Physical/Power Forward

My thoughts are that:
A) no one Prospect is a Center, who is a Sniper and Plays a 200Ft Game
- Closest is Dach (Center, 200 Ft Game, ... Sniper??)
B) no one Prospect is a RW, who is a Sniper and Plays a 200Ft Game
- Closest is Caufield (RW, Sniper,...200Ft Game??)

Maybe I see it differently than you??
Give me your thoughts!!!

In all honesty, probably worse. ERod was bad for the first half of the season and Sam had a weak start as well. There just isn't a way to fix the middle 6 with the same names. I guess you could pretend someone from Roch came up and played well, but they didn't.

Yuck. I'm not built for heat.

Growing up in Wisconsin literally a mile from Lake Michigan... it was about 45-75 degrees for about 5-6 months, it is 32 and below about 3.5 months, and only 85+ about 2.5 months. But then the lake affect came in every day with a great breeze. man I miss living there.

My hometown is just a sh1t hole.
