For a year or two. No idea what he will command in the UFA market, but he's on the back 9 of his career, and declining pretty quick
- jcragcrumple

Kyle Okposo or Milan Lucic 2.0.

A guy who 1-2 years into the contract would do anything to get out of.

Hi All,
Here are the results of the Survey I posted yesterday....terrific participation as we had 35 total respondents!
A sincere Thank You for giving your input

I don't think there are many surprises here, given how many posters have a serious interest in the Draft and who have read-up on the prospects.

This survey was focused on getting clarification on the direction we should go with the 7th OA. We still need to wrestle-to-the-ground the 30th/31st...but we have some additional time there.

One thing of note, we will need to discuss if/how/who we pursue trade opportunities with and for. I asked the question yesterday around trading the 7th; the answer from several rounded into:
- trade the 7th only for a young, proven Top 6 or Top Pair player with term
* term = 2+ years left
* young = under 26
* proven = something in the neighborhood of 25G's and 60sh points

Without further ado

1 - Team Needs

2- Desired Prospect Attributes

3 - Overall Prospect Rankings

4- Prospect Ranking by Position

Your feedback is desired and welcomed!

Great work ion.

Thanks for putting this together.

Interesting thoughts:

Sammers probably like the IQ, 200 foot game and set up guy

Not worried about sniping, speed/agility, tough to play against, board play

Given the choices of destination and being a young sought after millionaire, I would maybe consider other options. (If I were skins)

That's why I'd be surprised if skins signs before the tampering period. Maybe his agent has a good feel though?

Agents want that 8th year

- Boss34

Why? They don't get paid per year, they get paid per dollar. If anything they should want the same money over less years. The player sets the priority.

It's kinda confusing how Pominville is your favorite player, but you're not a big fan of Reinhart

Yeah , in a perfect world, but if we're offering 8.5 x 8 =68

Who's offering 9.7 x 7 = 68

See what I'm saying.

8 × 9 =72 million
7 x 10.3 = 72. million

If I'm an agent , I'm locking in 8. I'm not worried about winning, nice weather, state taxes. I'm getting my %.

The player would want the eighth year. Generally, it would be more guaranteed money in the event of a buyout.

I thought the buyout numbers were just what it costs a team against the cap. I think they get paid the whole amount either way.

Edit: looks like I’m wrong.

The sammers do not care "where a player is picked"

I do care. I sat through a purposely losing season for him to go 2oa

Hopefully he lives up to that draft position, but leon being picked 1 pick later , is making it worse.

I feel his family name has helped him get noticed and drafted early.
I've met him and was not impressed (not great to fans)
No letter on his jersey
No PK
Not great off ice stories

Pommer was a 2nd round pick.
Worked his way up with hard work and determination
Great guy off the ice. Great to fans and everyone around him.
Scored the biggest goal in Sabres history
Kinda a sniper vs. Passer
Played a 200 foot game and on the pk
Wore the C

I apologize to the Sam fans, as he played very well the middle part of the season.

He is young and is getting better

Would anyone object to Wayne Simmonds
- SABRES 89

I would stay away from Wayne Simmonds. The guy is oldish, injury prone, and most likely wants to get paid a decently high contact.

For all the truculence lovers here, Krueger mentioned the team is in need of, and will be pursuing, "bite and snarl"

It's necessary and was a clear factor missing from this team.

I had to wonder after hearing this if that removes Caufield from consideration at pick 7

No ill will Boss, but this honestly strikes me as being about as objective as an argument over the superiority of strawberry ice cream in relation to orange shurbert. It's really just a question of perspective and personal preference.

Pommer helped coach his son's team in my son's hockey organization. He played in the parent child game. Great dude.

Sam told my friends 13 year old daughter who requested a picture (at the arena) after a game. He said " my girlfriend wouldnt like it" and said "NO"

On the ice:

Pommer was a goal scorer and passer
Sam isnt a goal scorer

I really dont see the similarities.

Maybe there height?

I have a few more stories as well.

I'm a Sabres fan and would love for Sam to leave me with a Similar impression. I liked his middle 30 games.
I love that he jumped in after the zadarov hit on eichel.
He was pissed and showed great leadership. That wasnt staged. Great team play. Unlike datdudenelson8

I might have left the "and" out

Pomminville has six fewer goals and 28 fewer assists. Hard to see how strawberry ice cream is more flavorful than the shurbert.

I really think part of "tanking" for dahlin and this years 7oa is making sure we are soft. Easy to play against.

Jbotts has moved

Ek9
D-lo
Foligno

Added: not hard to play against / intimidation factor
Sheary
Hunwick
Pilut
Dahlin
Scandella
Pommer
Mitts
Skinner
Ellie

- Boss34

I disagree with the premise, and I'll leave it at that.

I think we both realize that they are at completely different stages of their careers last season.

Pommer s 2nd and third full year in the nhl
34 goals 34 assists
27 goals 53 assists

Sam 2nd and 3rd years in the nhl

17 goals 30 assists
25 goals 25 assists

See the difference. Aside from one guy being a gem of a find in the 2nd round vs. 2nd oa

2x2, sure. He'd be great on one of the PP units, and could help the bottom 6 chip in some offense and provide space for guys like Mittelstadt.
