Malkin for Huberdeau being mentioned by the Pens blogger. That would be a big win for Pens.

My question to Botterill, Do you still have a high level of confidence that you'll be able to get an agreement done with Skinner? And his answer, "Without a doubt."

Wouldn’t be the first player to perform in a contract year and be overpaid by this franchise.

Drew Stafford cannot be compared to Jeff skinner in any way.

This poop needs to stop. We can’t have it both ways.

We can’t say we need second and third round picks to build depth in one scenario and then in the next say that they are pennies on the dollar.

If Skinner does not get signed it was a waste of assets to acquire a guy who played one meaningless season here.

The same argument used for Kane and ROR.

- ImThatGuy

Needing to develop mid round draft picks and using them to get high end, established players are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

Yes, the team needs to hit on draft picks. But the odds are stacked against those players to be as good as a player like Skinner.

Now, if you're using it on a Lockport Larry, that's different, and where pick value comes in. He's a useful player for what he does, but the floor for the 2nd round should really be Lockport Larry. Certainly not Jeff Skinner.

I would never advocate to blow all your picks on mid 20 something players. But occasionally, and especially in this scenario, the trade makes total sense. For a team that needs to start winning today, because those picks are going to take 2-4 years to do anything here.

He "without a doubt" has confidence.

Hamilton should have asked, "Are you going to get the agreement done?"

The last time he was this confident about a contract was when POTUS Casey Nelson was about to re-sign. I know it's not done until it's done.. but it's all but done.

Yeah - broken by Sean Avery, who couldn't even properly pronounce either players name in the instagram post.

For all the truculence lovers here, Krueger mentioned the team is in need of, and will be pursuing, "bite and snarl"

It's necessary and was a clear factor missing from this team.

Reinhart is arguably a more complete player than Laine. Not sure I would swap them straight up. I'm sure I'm in the minority on that

I'd take the higher potential all day long. I think Laine ends up as a top 5 goal scorer in the league in the near future.

there is no arguing. He is. That's a hard fact.

Here's usage, Reinhart, who plays significant competition and thrives, vs Laine, who can shoot the puck against lesser competition and simultaneously gets owned.

Samson could be more complete.... but he doesn't have a 40 goal ceiling that Laine has already accomplished at a younger age.

But then comes a 10M AAV that Laine wants.

I was just stirring the pot to be honest.

The report circulating about Jesse Puljujarvi signing a KHL contract with Jokerit is "totally inaccurate," according to his agent Markus Lehto.

Dreger also said that he is a likely candidate to be traded this off-season.

The only evidence was from some finnish hack site that falsely stated Niemi and Puljujarvi would sign today for Jokerit.. it was Niemi and Lepisto.

the smoke you're referring to may indeed be player movement.. but I would be absolutely shocked to see him leave NA before he's fully developed.
