He has a low hockey IQ

Where have you seen that, Gerb? The summary said “everything you’d want in a 1-C.”

shall we throw he and his 40 goals in the trash?
- TheSabresTaco

Yes, because we only gave up a 2nd and 3rd.

I thought those picks were important for finding cheap depth but in this narrative they are not.

Also Kane and ROR played as many meaningful games as Skinner did with this team to date.

So not signing him is no different than Kane and ROR except we didn’t get a first for Skinner if he walks.

A lot of hammer meet nail mentality in here, its getting boring.

If he possibly lands, than they would probably get another player to potentially attempt to reach maximum numbers. I'd guess it could all depend on that important day. It's definitely a maybe but it depends on if the sun comes up and down everyday and things happen.

He makes decisions that Ristolainen makes looks outstanding one play then does something unthinkable

But we don’t draft CHL players I don’t even think he’s on our radar

Damn. I should've waited longer. That trick used to kill back in the good ol' days of message boards (pre-Twitter).

sound reasoning. I was also of thinking of trading Dahlin for a 1st and a 2nd so we can at least come out on top with that one.

Panarin understands the old Russian mentality. Capture him, torture him until he signs. Should be fine. Don't need Skins.

“One of the best skaters in the draft, and he has a high level of skill, intelligence and compete in his game that can be deployed in any situation and competes very hard every shift.” Corey Pronman ~ The Athletic

Corey Pronman doesn't seem to have a problem with his IQ

He seems to be the kinda guy that does everything really well, just not elite.

Watching him in his tournaments don’t get me wrong he’s a good prospect but if you have trouble making quick decisions its going to be a kassian and mikhal pick

I’d rather draft Peyton Krebs he Plays similar to Matthew Barzal And his hockey IQ is off the charts..

But ..... I want Caufield or “Miracle”Turcotte

Jeff Skinner will have to make a decision soon if he plans to sign with Buffalo or test unrestricted free agency.
"So they're obviously grinding away, Buffalo and Jeff Skinner. And there is something on the table for eight years, somewhere between $8 and 9 million. And I think at some point in time this week, Jeff Skinner's going to have to decide if he wants Buffalo’s offer or he wants to see what else is out there," said Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. "Unless his rights get traded, he obviously can’t sign for eight years anywhere else so it’s hard to see how there would be an offer out there that would be higher than what is available in Buffalo. The two sides are really trying and I think they’re close, but until it’s done, it’s not done." Skinner will garner plenty of interest if he wants to test the open market.

LWOH-

Dylan Cozens also sees the ice very well. He controls the puck in the cycle game before dishing to an open teammate. His hockey IQ is excellent, as he anticipates where his teammates are headed and is able to set them up for good scoring chances. He can control the puck and has the patience to slow down the play and the instinct to speed it up in order to create openings depending on the situation. His vision and skill allow him to quarterback the power play on the half boards. Without the puck, Cozens finds soft spots in the defence and gets himself open to make a play. He is also effective at battling for loose pucks in the corners and along the boards.

They do? Greg Wyshinski works for ESPN now, if that's who you're referring to. He sucks as much as he did with puckdaddy, but he's not even funny anymore. His material is garbage.

I said he’s a good prospect but the way he unraveled in U18 was very very noticeable I’m sure whoever watched him would agree it seems like the light got too bright and he Just made mistakes after mistakes in that tournament

Perhaps. Players have bad showings. If Cozens moves out of the top 10 come draft night, GMs may have taken the tournament pretty seriously.

Honestly, and I hate to make the comparison, this kid sounds like a more physical, faster He Who Shall Not Be Named god of faceoffs and Tim Hortons

That’s true some teams scrap those tournaments and just look at the player overall but sometimes those tournaments increase the players draft stock

Hopefully the hawks really like him and pass on Turcotte

FWIW

"What’s more notable than the Sabres talking to a lot of players ahead of a draft in which they have eight picks is that they spoke with Zegras twice, once for the formal interview conducted at the team’s meeting room at KeyBank Center and a second time over dinner. Of the players we’ve discussed that might be available to them at seven, Zegras is the only one who met with Buffalo twice. That might mean something or it might mean they wanted to show him personally how good an order of hot wings at Gabriel’s Gate really is.

Truth is they like Zegras. They probably also like his USNTDP teammates Boldy, Caufield, and center Alex Turcotte, who they also interviewed, but probably won’t have a shot to pick at seven. "

I think he's the pick and should be available at 7.

If that's the case, hopefully he doesn't play the same contract game the Other Guy did with Colorado.

The fact he only traded a 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and Pu really softens the blow. You wouldn't have been able to rent him at the deadline from Carolina for that price.

Yeah, it's not great to not re-sign him, but it's not like the price paid for ROR from Colorado or Kane from Winnipeg, then you absolutely have to re-sign him or you're likely sh¡tcanned.

- Wetbandit1

If Skinner doesn't sign:

He turned ROR, Kane, Lehner, a 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and Pu

Into

Sobotka, Thompson, Montour, 30/31OA and a 2021 2nd

That's gotta be worth getting fired over
