A good crew.
Excited to see the team Dale gives Coach Q to work with this year. I suspect some big changes. - Tyler Cameron
I would agree....No way Q goes down there without the word of the team spending money to be competitive......Im sure they are going to throw the bank at the Russia-2 some.
Sounds like the wives/g friends for Bob and Panarin are very tight as well. |

I was going to ask if the Dylan Crawford was a relation.
"Marc's son, Dylan Crawford, who serves as assistant video coach." |

I've brought up Alex Edler before as a potential free agent target for Chicago.
This is from Carol's latest here on Hockeybuzz ( https://hockeybuzz.com/bl...iations-stalled/194/99801)
Now, changing course—the new "31 Thoughts" podcast dropped this morning, and the episode notes include a reference to Vancouver as "the most intriguing off-season team."
I haven't had time to listen yet, but the good folks at Sportsnet broke down Friedman's thoughts on 10 impending UFAs into article form, and Alex Edler made the list.
I'm not surprised by this at all. Says Friedman: "The issue is 1) Term, and 2) Expansion draft availability. They want him eligible for the expansion draft, he doesn’t want to be."
Make sense. As the guy with deep roots here who only wants to stay in Vancouver, Edler is looking for reassurance that he'll be able to end his career here. I think if the issue was only a three-year term, the Canucks would be OK with it, even for an older player. And I doubt his dollar ask is anything too crazy. But a three-year term with a no-move that would require them to use a protection slot on him in the expansion draft is a completely different deal.
Which side will bend? I guess it would depend what other options are available. Edler may decide that he'd rather take money and security now, in a city of his choosing, rather than risk moving in the expansion draft in the two years' time. Friedman mentions San Jose as a team that might have interest.
On the other hand—it is just Seattle. If he did get selected, he'd barely have to move.
Would Edler be satisfied if the Canucks bumped up the dollar value a bit in order to get him to agree to the term they want? |

Edler would be a very good addition and a stabilizing force on the defence. Given his age I would pay a bit more to limit the term to 2 years.
If San Jose loses Eriksson I would see them landing Edler.

Excellent move, Crawford is a great coach. - DarthKane
Don't get me wrong, I like almost all of what you bring to this site. But I have to digress here.
Crawford totally lost my respect as a human when he sactioned Todd Bertuzzi's attack on Steve Moore of the Colorado Avalanche when he was coaching the Canucks. Moore had hit Naslund, Vancouver's leading scorer, the previous time they met and several of the Canucks players said they were told they were going to 'get' Moore next game.
Bertuzzi cowardly skated up to him from behind and walloped Moore, a very promising rookie center, in the back of the head, knocking him out and sending him hitting the ice head first with the front of his head. His injuries ended his career. He eventually reached an out of court settlement with Bertuzzi but Crawford was named in the lawsuit as well.
I went round and round with Matthew Barnaby on Twitter about this. In my opinion, Crawford has no right to be making money in the NHL. Period.
And it sickens me as a Blackhawks fan that my favorite team that I have followed for basically my whole life hired a guy I absolutely hate to be a coach. |

Sorry, no way.
You can't bring up Marc Crawford without rehashing his role in the Steve Moore incident.
I have no respect for the man as a hockey coach and especially as a human being. |

Don't get me wrong either. I am all for the hockey code. If someone cheap shots Kane I would want the same.
But the hockey code dictates facing your opponent and giving him a chance to defend himself, man to man.
What Crawford had Bertuzzi do to Moore was cowardly, from behind, and sickening.
Look at the videos that are available. Ended the guys career his rookie year.

Serious question. Are you sure Crawford was on board with everything the way it was executed? Was it the coach being okay with some payback specifically or the coach being okay with an attack from behind that included driving his head into the ice. I remember the incident well, but I didn't follow all of the aftermath of the investigation into it. |

And will be waiting in the wings, just like Q -- when the Hawks fired Savard -- which they will likely do with Colliton at some point this season when the brass finds out they have the wrong guy. |

Positive.
In Bertuzzi's defense, during the court trial, he basically said he was just executing what the coach was telling him to do.
Specifically hit him from behind? Not sure, but 'get him' one way or another, it was made clear that that had to be done however it got done. |

Of course Crawford himself threw his players under the bus after the incident and when it came to the trial. |

Initial reaction to the Marc Crawford addition:
Tomas Mitell was a Colliton pick
Marc Crawford was a Bowman pick
...
Just like when Coach Q brought in Ulf Samuelsson the same year Don Granato was hired randomly (most suspected Granato was a Bowman hire). |

I was wondering the same thing. Was this a Colliton hire (as it appears Mitel was), or was this the FO hedging their bets? As you allude, it wouldn't be the first time they replaced a rookie head coach with a former Colorado bench boss. |

This does not fill me with confidence in Bowman.
Crawford would be an awful coach after firing Colliton.
Then again he did help Ottawa to the worst record in the league this past season. |

Main stream media saying Hawks had done due diligence on Kevin Hayes before he was sent to Philly. May not sign there, but who knows....
Shows you they aren't just concerned with the back-end and also looking at top 6....who'd have thunk it...... - SteveRain
Kevin Hayes is not top 6 material on a good team. |
