If Byram is a legit top pairing guy that's who I want the Hawks to get as well, but only if the Hawks' scouting staff have him projected to be the third best player available or tied as the third best player available. - paulr
Apparently he's being touted as the best dman to come out of the whl since Scott Neidermayer |

I never said to go "All In" for next year !! A good to GREAT management team that includes a HUGE scouting staff that we're told is second to none, is supposed to be able to do both.
They can get this team to be serious contenders next year and also build for the next 5. That is how GREAT organizations build stability (Patriots). You have to build around your superstars who are earning huge dollars that they have undoubtedly earned.
2 missed years of playoff revenues from this team has to be driving Rocky crazy, especially with 3 or 4 HOF players still producing at a high rate.
I'll say it again and again.....
If this management staff is as GREAT as they tout themselves to be, my expectations are for them to be a serious playoff team next year, AND, for several years to come. Isn't that what our expectations should be ?
That's what mine are if they want me as a STH to continue to shell out THOUSANDS of dollars every year. - Hawkytalk
Do you think the Patriots would be so good if they had to honor all the contracts they sign and not just terminate them whenever they feel like it? There is quite a bit more to it that you don'y understand |

The Hawks have posted stories about most prospects. At a quick glance Turcotte and Byram are the two with multiple stories. |

You're not serious I hope. Listen to any of John McD's interviews in the past few years and he continually boasts on how GREAT of a staff they have.
It's time to prove it this summer. They've had plenty of time to do their homework with 2 failed seasons gone awry.
I feel that we'll know immediately after their very first move and the explanations that follow it. - Hawkytalk
I am serious actually. For years there's been a narrative on this site about Stan getting the job because of his Dad, McDonough Meddles, the Front Office telling the world how great they are without one iota of proof. Do you expect McDonough to tell the world Stand is stupid, and I McMeddler am a dolt? Then with no proof about any of this the narrative has continued for years.
The two "failed seasons" as you call them, are to most fans the unfortunate result of their decade of success. If you didn't expect the team to bottom out you aren't being realistic. I expect the team to show improvement but it is still going to take awhile, with good drafting, smart trades and UFA acquisitions plus plenty of luck for the team to contend. |

I don't know how closely the guys that run their site are connected to anything but marketing. I seem to remember them strongly featuring guys that ended up getting traded not too long after. I think Panarin comes to mind with that - there was stuff all over the place about 'how (he) was looking forward to attending the convention for the first time - and about a week later he was looking for accom in Columbus.
It's happened before as well - personally I wouldn't read anything in to it apart from Turcotte and the interviewer having free time at the same time. |

Careful of the source when posting articles here... a lot of clickbait articles with little substance and misinformation out there. |

Please do NOT draft a dman at #3. Use free agency to improve the back line. Cozens sounds like the perfect pick. Who cares if they're local or not. shouldn't matter one bit. Don't need a "feel good" story out of a team that hasn't made the playoffs the past 2 seasons. |

I would take a "non competing" 21yr old who has 110g in 237 career games. - PatShart
LOL!!! The kid is 21! The hatred he gets from this board is hysterical. Terrible leader, no compete, terrible on D, floater, etc......
I'd take him on my team in a heart beat. A big goal scorer with an edge. Idk what was up this year but last year he was an absolute beast....
And oh he is 21!!!1 |

No name calling please and thank you.
Cut it out or it will be reported.
I just had to yell at my 4 year old for the last hour... don't feel like policing adults as well. |

If the HAWKS draft Turcotte it tells Me the PR department is running this team .Why would you waste a 3rd overall on a player projecting to be a 2nd line or 3rd line player ,and is also injury prone . Wasted pick if you ask me .This team has been going down the hometown kid road a bit lately and it got them nowhere .I would take Cozens Dach Byram Caufield Pod Zegras Boldy before Turdcotte .. - oldduffman
Who cares if he is from Illinois and loves Toews. They better not screw it up ! |

Tyler, Wiz, others-
Just curious-if Turcotte and Byram were one year older, where do you think they would have gone in last years draft? |
|
|
|
They just showed Gretzky looking like he'd rather be anywhere else while an 8" shorther Bettman runs his mouth at him. |

Is there a way to get more info about the Bowman stare? Is this a normal thing for him?
As it stands I would have to assume Turcotte is the pick but I’m leaning Byram because like many writers have said, how often does a True #1 dman come along and how many do we have in the system? Also, this all changes depending on trades. If we land Trouba then draft Turcotte, kind of situations. |

Kevin Hayes rights traded to PHI for a 2019 5th rounder.
Expect him to sign in Philly. Hayes will fit in nicely there reunited with Coach AV. |

Caufield - tvetter
Speaking of Caufield, do you think he'd be a top 10 pick if ADB hasn't been so successful? |
