Quick question on the Crawford hire... if he would have been hired for the head coaching job instead of Colliton, would anyone here have been all that excited (The last time he made the playoffs as a head coach was 03-04)? If not, then why is anyone excited about the prospect of Crawford taking over if/when Colliton is relieved?

If you would be excited that Crawford would be hired initially as head coach, please explain why. I'm not being a putz here, I'm just trying to figure out why anyone would be all that happy about Crawford as a coach. Two separate 2-year chances at being a coach since being dumped by Vancouver, and nothing.

Chunk, I get railed all the time , my idea was always when this kid was brought up to be the head coach, was surround him with at least one NHL former head coach. Did I think Mark Crawford should’ve been the First choice, maybe not but most of the X NHL head coaches have chosen to walk away and not take another job or have a ready been sucked up.
The guy coaching St. Louis I thought got a rod deal from his former team that he played his heart and soul out for. I am glad to see him have success, I like Berubes thoughts on how the game should be played, same with John Tortorella and a couple other coaches.
as I always say this is just my personal preference everybody else is entitled to their thoughts. I won’t get on here and call someone else stupid because they disagree with me. It’s not the way I roll and I’m not seeing anybody did.
now back to Mark Crawford, that is going to be interesting as someone pointed out because I know what his style is. And I’m sure he’s going to scratch his head when his goalie, Crawford gets rung upIn the crease and maybe other than Brent Seabrook most of his defense men lead by the great Gus just stand there and turn their head the other way.
I was at a game last year, when Corey Crawford first came back at the end of the season. And a player from the opposing team came into his space and basically what I would say cheap shot at him and the great Gustavsson was right there on top of the play and did nothing. If you can see body language I thought Corey Crawford Was going to hit him with the goalie stick instead of the player that ran him in his crease. By no means do I feel that’s all hockey should be about, but there were a few guys on their team last year that definitely did not play for the team and I’m sure it frustrated the captain and the vets. For as much as people railed Chris Kunitz , i’m sure he had something to say to a couple of those kids behind
closed doors. Hopefully the Hawks get Someone like that again maybe not as old what to anchor that bottom six.
So we will see how the coaching styles match. Hopefully it all works out for the best.

Following jrs over the yrs I've seen/read of quite a few kids having mono and what I understand is you don't just recover from that quickly. Takes a yr and you're weak for a long time as you recover. If so what Turcotte did this yr despite having mono is incredible.

Thing about Turcotte is his floor for me. Kid can skate, play physical, plays center, score, dish, plays both ends, ++++ compete. Contributes in so many ways that if he doesn't end up a Toews/Bergeron type that some scouts see his floor says 2C.

Mono----Logan Couture
the reason St. Louis traded out (and subsequently selected Iam Cole at San Jose's #18 slot)was no team but San Jose saw past his mono his draft year and was their at slot #9 a great value and a flub by at least half thew teams picking before that slot.

So I know we have the 3rd pick, but where are we drafting in the second, 4th (2 picks), 5th, 6th and 7th? And does anyone else see us trading Hayden or Forsling for a 3rd?
- resqmed99

I for one am not giving up on Forsling...Hayden isn't worth a one and if a UFA Hayes only yields a 5th rounder for an early conversation, I can't believe Hayden yields much.

I think that they will use the extra 4th rounder or both and a later pick as barter to move up into the 3rd.

Not talked much about who the Blackhawks take with their 2nd pick but after listening to Burke I think we should be taking a look at Daniil Misyul, he’s a big Russian defenseman.

I think he is a reach that earlier I had him entrench in the second round but backed him up to slot #66

I didn't read the above but from the ten games of footage I saw he is everything the NHL teams could want in a Russian prospect: Tough, fast, skilled and highly offensive...

To weigh in on the Crawford hire without the Bertuzzi/Moore history - I would have preferred Crawford wasn't hired because I want to see Colliton get a legit chance to implement his system and lead the Hawks, and I see the Crawford hiring as possible interference with that. Hopefully not, but I think if Colliton is to be given a chance - then give him a chance without a veteran coach looking over his shoulder. This just smacks of weak knees to me. Hiring Colliton was a bold move - follow through with being bold instead of placing a Stan/McDonaugh "binkie" behind the bench.

Of course you are guessing about why Crawford was hired. "Not bad to have a veteran coach"around probably echoed in the minds of Crawford, Colliton, and Bowman.

Crawford also said that he instantly.had a bonding at least philosophical with coaching systems. Etc al.

I suspect what happened is that a confidant capable young coach was not afraid to add a veteran voice and duties are divided up

The Avs are a coming power in the Central and the WC. I don't know if they will take 2 forwards with their picks in 1st round. They may try to grab Spencer Knight with that 2nd one. And they probably wouldn't mind Byram if the Hawks pass on him.

How about.If Edmonton plucked Caufield

How about Darth Kane jump for joy like on the old Toyota commercials

Or Ron Santo clicks his heels

Blackhawks take Cozens or Bynam. Hey hey

Good question you beat me to this. He's always struck me as a defensive minded coach. Can anyone elaborate on this. Thanks in advance.
