Spot on article on Zaitsev. Stay far far away - CanuckDon
It depends on the return really, you're taking on an overpaid bottom 6 dman.
Worst case scenario, is he is bad and gets moved, waived, bought out in a couple years when the Canucks are better. Better case scenario is he turns out he can play competently in the top 4 and you get a good asset back.
Best case scenario, he convinces Tryamkin to return

Cole Moberg
Date of birth: October 17th, 2000
Nation: Canada
Position: Defence
Shoots: Right
Height: 6’3″ / 190 cm
Weight: 198 lbs / 90 kg
Profile: One of the oldest draft eligibles this year, Moberg is a mobile right-handed defenceman that has been able to perform on a very bad Prince George Cougars team. The North Vancouver native used his above-average skating ability to score 13 goals, the ninth most from defencemen in the WHL. |

We've been preaching about acting aggressively to improve our D. As goaltending is the last line of defence, we decided Spencer Knight at #10 was our best strategy moving forward. - golfingsince
He is a hell of a goalie, but it would be shocking to me. |

Is he though? He has the hype, but why? I don’t get it... Eye test? Meh. Pretty weak save percentages considering the team he’s had vs competition he’s faced. Give me Konovalov in a later round over him any day. |

The games I watched he was calm poised and skilled

If Zaitsev is on Benning Radar at all and he isn’t getting a good sweetener to take him then he should look to mark stone instead ...same cap hit this year with less baggage and probably can be had for very little |

I don't think they will be taking him. It would sort of be a waste of picks with Demko and Mikey D |

Excellent.
I don't believe the hype about Panarin but it is popping up more and more. Him liking a few tweets about him coming to Vancouver. Probably not true but sometimes money talks.

I’m anti-Podkolzin, but he’s one of the few who might fit/thrive on a line with Bo. Switch Brock & Podkolzin & I don’t mind it. Boeser on that top line would have a Caufield-like opportunity - Podkolzin would frustrate the (frank) out of Petey & Panarin.
Get Grewe or Rees on that 3rd line, bump Jake to the 4th |

I am becoming less worried about free agency. 1) it's only money, it isn't mine, and you can't spend it if players don't want to play here. 2) Pettersson is the only player where an offer sheet could be an issue (I don't think it will get to that), but if he signs a deal that the Canucks won't match I would be happy with 4 first round picks. 3) if they are going big fish hunting, good! I didn't like the Beagle signing because they over paid for bottom of the roster. If it's Panarin, at least he's a dynamic player (unlike Lui, who was never dynamic). |

I really like Grewe . He is one of my favorites in the draft. I hope he is around by 40 but think he might go around 25 th. He is getting a lot of print these days and that usually drives up their stock.

If Pettersson was ever OS it would be a return of 4 first round players. I would think very hard at letting him walk.
Canucks will make some moves . We are all guessing which is fun . I really do hope a Kadri or a Bennett come this way . We can use a little piss and vinegar to go along with Roussel .
I expect at least one free agent top 6 forward . In one month we will find out who, |

Was just looking at the UFA lists from 2020/21 and 2021/22. Next year isn't bad, but the year after is dreadful. If you believe this team is close enough that you are going to want to add, you want Benning to go all in this year or next. |

Like I said, I don't fathom a situation where the Canucks couldn't match, but the compensation would be high. They will get him signed as soon as they are eligible. |

He really does remind me of Gretz. I don't think Canucks will let him anywhere near Free Agency. |

I would like them to add a manager that went to school (lawyer) and has experience with the CBA. I would feel much better about them navigating the salary cap and contract situations down the road. |

I think we all would like that. I feel Jimbo is getting better at everything . I know you didn't like last years signings , I didn't mind them at all.
Having Beagle will let you say adios to Sutter who served his purpose and now is time to move on. When Gaudette is ready we will say bye to Beagle.
Need to have some experience to guide the young guys.
As much as everyone complains about the situation we have one of the best cap situations in the league.

My opposition to Beagle is only because of Sutter. If they can move him, problem solved. I don't think they will though.
Would you rather they went all in this year on Panarin/Karlsson, or waited a year and made a play for Hall/Pietrangelo? |

I fully understand someone not like having Beagle and Sutter together. I really do agree with you guys on that. You can make a shut down line of Sutter Beagle but it is a little extravagant . I think BS will be moved sometime this year either at the draft or TDL.
