Thanks Carol
I got the feeling you were hinting at some type of Zaitsev Nylander package. Interesting.
I don't mind Zaitsev and would be open to looking at some sort of deal if it led to our advantage.
Interesting words on SN650 this morning . They think Canucks/Edler are far apart and a chance he may land in Tampa.
That would make the Eriksson rumors to Vancouver a little more real.
They also said Bnning has been very busy with the other GMs and expect something to happen in the next three weeks. - VANTEL

If Edler signed in TB & wouldn’t waive here he’s contradicting himself. So not happening unless JB is playing hard ball & forces a deal on him. |

You couldn't be more wrong.
It is a lot easier to pack up your family in summer and move all together at once instead of being separated for 4 months.
TB have been interested in him for years .
If I am him and the TB are offering me 5 years 30 mil or Canucks are offereing two years 12 mil , guess which one I am taking? |

As Vancouver is the goalie graveyard, Toronto is the Dman's graveyard. Zaitsev could be a good fit in Van. The way salaries are skyrocketing his contract can be VERY attractive long term. He doesn't have to worry about haters in Van as their fans are so A.D.D. they NEVER noticed the Dmen and made Luongo their whipping boy. RD Pesche in Carolina would be a solid addition in Van. Good cap hit too. |

I wonder whether a Karlsson signing or an Eriksson extension would cause more hysteria |

If I had to chose the next five years of Karlsson at 9.5 per or Edler and Tanev at 10.5 for the next five years I might be tempted.
Hard decision. |

Try projecting our D with the prospects we have to see how it would look. |

With Tanev in his final year something could give. To bad he cannot stay healthy. If he could for at least 3 months it would help us. |

All true except 2 things...
I don’t think money is an issue & he has said it many times he loves it here & why he won’t waive. He’s been in BC at Kelowna & here 1/2 his life & is well rooted living in Kitsilano. He’s a big family man & not a cup chaser. |

Aren't old, Canucks UFA d-men of Scandinavian descent legally obligated to finish their careers in TB? |

It would serve Benning well to keep it at a 2 year deal. Lets see who budges . We don't need him. |

I’m wondering if some 3-way trades might happen with the cap crunched teams. |

Totally agree but probably means Hutton stays if Eddie goes. |

I don't . I think there will be changes. When the GM says over and over for the last 6 months he wants to change the D, I don't see them bringing back the fringe players. |

Better to have Hutton for another year or 2 than Edler with a big 3 year+NMC contract |

Didn't he say the defense wasn't good enough the year before as well before bring back the same group? |

He didn't have the cap space or expired contracts to do much last year.

Eriksson & Sutter are important players to this team. They bring leadership and experience just like Beagle. |
