I wouldn't do that and I believe most GM's (if not all) are not going to use the offer sheet route. I do believe their is a trade to be made between the Devils and Toronto...more like mid tier prospect (Joey Anderson or Brett Seney type) and a mid round pick for Kapanen and Marleau. Now we would have to buy out Marleau because he has a full NMC and he would want to play for a team that has a chance at the cup (reunion with San Jose likely). But this trade helps out Toronto in keeping Marner not losing him and we get a 22yr old RW that fits our team growth wise with Nico, Bratt, Zacha, Smith, Wood, McLoed, Bastian, Boqvist and Hughes all being under 23, they can all grow together, kind of like what Toronto had.

Kapanen is good yes. But I believe Anderson given time could be as well. Either way, neither of them move the needle in terms of improving the talent that Hall wants to see to sign. Those 4 draft picks will mature after his prime if they become anything at all. You improve this talent by signing a great free agent (don't think it likely); trade for premium talent (what can we afford to give up other than picks and salary cap that doesn't create a hole some where else); or you draft really well. Drafting really well is a great approach, I just don't see it coinciding with Hall's timeline. So if there is a possibility an offer sheet works you should take advantage of it. Offer sheet - Its a long shot or pipe dream at best, but don't ignore it.
