Not me. I got my sights set on UFA. Need the Rangers to sign Polak, Filppula and Smmonds. |

The ironic thing is that at the right price, I'd have no problem with Filpula. He didn't a pretty good job for the Isles. |

He wouldn't be bad for a team contending(utility player), but I want nothing to do with any ufa's except Panarin |

Again I think it depends on price and what you want to do with Chytil. If the team wants to move Chytil back to C, I actually think that Fillpula is a perfect kind of player to sign. He can start the season as the 2C and as Chytil improves, does not look out of place when moved down to a more defensive role. Being 35, I imagine he only gets 2 years tops, so as our young players take bigger roles, he quietly goes off the payroll. If he has a good year, you probably could trade him for a midround pick at the deadline if you wanted to. |

Problem is you already have Strome, Boo, Anderson, etc.. in the bottom 6. Rather give the playing time to them then sign any bottom 6 players. I think they are ok there, in fact I think we have too many. Really want to add to the top 6. imo |

He's also a Finn.
These short term, ticky tack deals don't mean much, so if there's good reasoning to the signing (allowing Chytil to play 3C to start, if Kakko is here getting him adjusted, etc.) I'm all for it. |

I think Boo is a fourth liner, and a really meh one at that. Anderson should be playing wing. He's not ready to play C. Strome is the interesting one, and you're right, no reason to sign a guy like Filp with him here. |

I think Boo can be a really good 4th liner. He has some serious speed, doesn't mind playing hard, when he has been in the lineup he is always noticeable. He just needs to stop getting injured |

I get that, but I don't trust any of the above in a top 6 role. With Fillpula, I know I'm getting about 40 pts a year. I guess out of the options listed above, Strome is the best choice, but I am highly skeptical of him given his shooting percentage. I'm not going to pretend Fillpula is a top flight 2C, but I wouldn't lose sleep with him on opening night there as opposed to the other question marks. I think Lias can move to wing (might actually be better for him) and let Howden start the season as the 4C. Strome can move to pretty much any forward spot, though I think he might get traded before the season.
We know my preference is to trade for RNH, but you'd have to think from an asset cost wise, it may not be feasible. If we sign Hayes, his term will be long and if he gets bumped down to a 3C, we are locked into way more money. Again with Fillpula, he probably won't cost much, and probably won't be here long enough to ever be a serious issue. |

I'm just of the opinion to let the younger guys work it out. We aren't going for a cup next year so I don't want some 35yr old to be blocking any of our younger players.
Right now they have Strome, Andersson, Chytil, Howden, Boo to fill out 3 center spots. Most likely Boo as the 4th and Howden as the 3rd. That leaves Chytil and Andersson and Strome for the 2nd. Obviously at this time its probably Chytils to lose. Nevermind the fact if the Devils do pick Kakko. I personally want nothing to do with adding another center especially an old one. |

I think there's a better chance that Gettinger, Lettieri, Fogarty, Meskanen, even Jake Elmer get a crack to make the Rangers rather than signing somebody like Fillipula |

I think it was just a Tom being in Tom mode post...there is no way he really wants a Polak, Fillipula or Simmonds |

wouldn't surprise me...tom loves hockey and the draft. I am sure he found other spots to talk and gather his knowledge. |

I can get behind some of this
You still don't think they draft either Hughes or Kakko??
Simmonds has regressed a lot and doesn't have the speed to be a top 6 player IMO. Not worth the money at all on the open market. |

I just may be too old school, I just was never of letting a fan of just throwing youngsters to the wolves and hoping it works out. I think confidence is a huge thing in sports, there's a reason why sports physcologists never go out of buisness. There were times last year where Chytil looked overmatched. What you don't want to do is ruin him or any of the names listed above because you put them in positions they cannot succeed and it breaks them. There is a time where you take off the shackles and see what they can do, but I think you have to build up to it.
Next year might be the most important year for this next core. There are going to be many 1st and 2nd year players. We need to make sure that they succeed. If this core gets down on themselves, it could hurt this team for years to come. |

Yeah. Let the young guys get their chance. Quinn seems to be a good coach for these younger players.
Quinn is going to try to build a team mentality with these younger guys. Get a good core of these guys who stick together and maybe add a few pieces down the road. Right now I think he is on the right track building an identity and a cohesive unit. Can't rush this poop |

Yea I am not just throwing around money. If you can get a Panirin you do it...but just be cautious about those 2nd/3rd line UFAs...they get crazy money sometimes. |
