Good on Brock for sniping on him after that tho lol |

Dobson will be a true #1 that this team has been lacking forever, which is why, this year, I wouldn't be opposed to dropping down a few spots and getting Sieder, who I believe is the 2nd best defenseman available in this draft and can be a #1, although not at the Dobson level.
Plus, the extra asset for dropping down a bit, would be an added bonus.
edit: I am never usually in favour of dropping down, but sometimes I make exceptions to my rules😁 - Reubenkincade

Nonis and Gillis regimes were so poor at drafting, although they didn’t haven’t luxury of picking four times in the top seven (5-5-6-7) like Benning has. Nonis threw away 2nd round picks like they were meaningless. Benning isn’t much better mind you.
Is it really fair to compare a cup contending team drafts to a perennial bottom ten team? Probably not. At the end of the day the Canucks have been poor at drafting for the majority of their history. |

Not quite sure what is interesting about this? That they consider Palmu a potential NHL’er? |

Can’t wait for the cup finals to begin, should be a great series. Hopefully the Blues win. That would leave only the Canucks and Sabres in the sad club |

I don’t think Gillis has many potential NHL’ers coming through so it’s just skewed list by some Benning fanboy.
The funny thing is, Judd Brackett served seven years as an Amateur Scout in the Canucks organization prior to being named Director of Amateur Scouting on August 4, 2015.
He’s obviously better at his job now |

What percentage of goals in the NHL do you think are clean looks where the shooter makes the keeper look bad? Like, let’s say Pettersson v Smith from game 1 last year is the example of how bad a goalie can look and puck off Brendan Gaunces ass is as lucky as they come.
I’d say the percentage is heavily weighted towards Gaunce. Murray just sounds like a wanker. You don’t have to come out and say “wow, that kid is amazing”, but he went full retard on how lucky those 5(?) goals were. |

Gaudette was a 5th rounder pick, and better than any pick Gillis ever made outside of Horvat, who was a top 10 pick. Which means Benning picked better outside the top 10 than Gillis ever did, and he did it with a single 5th rounder pick. Not to mention Boeser at 23, Demko at 36 is better than any first round pick outside the top 10 Gillis ever had, same with 2nd 3rd 4th, etc. Outside the top 10 Benning has a much better track record than Gillis. Benning failed to speed up a rebuild by bridging the gap between out aged core and Horvat, But if Gillis wasn't trash at drafting, it never would have been needed. |

Once you get past the second round the GM has limited input, that’s when your scouting department earns its money.
Hutton is poop but he’s more of a proven NHL player than Gaudette is. I love that Gaudette pick though, I hope he can push Sutter out the door. |

Pretty sure we as fans do it all the time ...every game you’ll see fans defending their goalie on goals that go in off sticks or skates or through massive screens... guy will let in 4/5 goals and we will say you can probably only fault him for 1-2 of them

If that was the case, they'd found a home on a different NHL team....
Gillis had 14 of 37 draft picks play 1 NHL game
JB has already had 11 of his 34 play 1 NHL game with prospects still developing that should play a game in the NHL : Madden, Woo, OJ, Lind, Rathbone |

Different times ...Gillis era had a high calibre team in a time where kids weren’t given an opportunity to make mistakes in the nhl...salary cap was fairly new and teams didn’t realize the importance of using ELC contracts to their advantage
