lol both bands did get pretty saturated as did all 80's pop rock of the time. But both Journey and Foreigner produced some pretty good stuff for a short period. Neal Schon is a major accomplished guitarist as is Mick Jones. And Lou Gramm and Steve Perry were no slouches as singers. But it is what it is. At least it ain't Nickelback lol - LordHumungous
All true, but I’d take Mick Jones of the Clash over Mick Jones of foreigner any day. |

The Mitch Marner contract negotiations jumped to the forefront on Tuesday when Darren Drager was on TSN1050 and said he expects Marner’s camp to take the negotiations beyond July 1st. He also expects Marner to visit teams starting June 26 in the RFA offer sheet interview period. Dreger posits that the Leafs will need to be very aggressive with their offer – starting with a double-digit cap hit (10-11+ million per) if they want to avoid other teams getting a chance to woo their young superstar. This led to all sorts of debates surrounding the value of the 22-year-old versus the potential influx of assets if he signs an offer sheet. |

Not that we had a lot in the cupboard to compare him to, but he did stand out a bit. |

This!
Who would be the front runners to do so?
Detroit has got a lot of picks stockpiled.
Carolina??
Would the prospective picks be from this draft or the 2020 draft? |

2020 draft, as this year's draft will already have taken place. |

Thought so.
I'd love to see Stevie Y make some bold moves with rebuilding Detroit and attack the TML.
Threaten with an o/s and then get them to make trades to free up cap space. |

Goes against what he said. Besides the NYR or Philly makes more sense |

NYR don't have the picks in 2020.
Philli i could see.
edit.
nvm I see it would work if they offered over 10.5 and the comp would be be 4 1st rounders.

Detroit signed a good 23 year old Finnish defenseman today, big 6'3 RH D, Oliwer Kaski, a player I was hoping we might be able to sign, unfortuneately, we put all our eggs in one basket, and used up all available contract room signing NCAA players. |

I think you need to massively overpay to get guys like Marner/Point and their salaries will be too inflated in relation to their contributions.
This team won't be good until they can draft well enough and have good players contributing on ELC's or even bridge contracts.
Petey is one, Hughes is likely two but I still have doubts he will be a top pair guy.
I think it will be the another 2 or 3 years until they can compete and the players drafted the next couple years need to be able to contribute on ELC's. |
