I find it strange that lots of Oilers fans out there want to trade him....my personal favourite reason for a Nurse trade is to “just get rid of him before he gets paid the big bucks” - RatedR80

Could I offer you a slightly used, but still pretty William Nylander? - stonehead
Some in here would jump allover that....it would be viewed as a risk but if he gets back to 60 point Nylander then that takes care of one of our needs

Didn’t you know? Holland is OBC (never played a single game with the Oilers) as is Tippett (also never played a game for the Oilers) 13 more years of failure since its OBC

You're correct on starts 65% to 35 Ozone ... However his CF% and Fenwick are both real good. Now I'm not sure if that's a reflection of the line he's out with and against or more Gallant's system. Him being relatively young and all thought he might make a good match with Nurse. - dozerD10
I'm not at home right now, but his team relative numbers are seriously unimpressive for a sheltered guy and his HD chance conversion rates (HDGF/HDCF vs HDGA/HDCA) are among the league's worst. |

But Holland played for the Wings and Tippett played for a bunch of Eastern teams. Has to mean something Oilers. |

Facts don’t matter in this case....it’s just spin the narrative to suit ones own needs

Remember when the Oilers had a rookie GM named MacT who hired a young rookie coach named Dallas Eakins. No recycled dinosaurs. Tanner would be proud. Eakins was an original thinker and was a real millennial. He was into fitness and recycling and gluten-free diets. He even took away all the popcorn and donuts for the media and replaced them with gluten-free granola snacks. What an innovator! He implemented a new system called "the swarm" which made zero sense, but hey, at least he was original. Now the Oilers just have some recycled old rejects. |

Please no more Tanner or as I call him Assner comments....the guys a total tool just like the team he writes for....How many Yotes were on the Canadian Silver medal winning team this afternoon....this is the guy who thinks hand passes should be legal??? I'm sure he'll tell us next that he's come up with ultimate money puck formula...Man what a winner. |

Too lazy to look up the stats, but Nurse was often the d-man watching McDrai win games in OT. So that does inflate some stats. Including plus/minus which is super important to dinosaurs like Holland. - uofcguy

Fighting tannerisms is like trying to teach JB commonsense, dont even bother.
The guy gets paid for hits, stop reading his blogs and responding to them. Everytime one of us do he gets more money and respect from ek to continue his reactionary blogs. If no one read them or responds he will be weeded out. Much like Garf has been lately. People gave up on him and poof gone. Next up the Pens blogger. |

Hi Oscar. Look at me playing 82 games. How's your rehab going this time?
Sorry. Nurse was a regular 3-on-3 partner with McDrai. Even when Klefbom returned. |

Nah, I think there are some decent writers with good info and that's why I come here. I am pretty happy with the Oilers' blogger. He could stand to be a little more positive, but who can blame an Oilers' fan for being overly pessimistic? haha |

By my memory, he wasn't THE regular 3-on-3 partner; that was Klefbom. Unfortunately, finding any time on ice w/ and w/o stats at 3-on-3 scoring is rather difficult. However, I do have evidence that counters your assertion that his stats were being padded by being a regular fixture with McDavid and Draisaitl in OT.
Nurse tallied a total of 2 points in 3-on-3 OT; one on a Nugent-Hopkins goals early in the year against Winnipeg and the other on a McDavid goal against the Rangers in March. Meanwhile, Klefbom was on-ice for 2 points in OT as well; a goal against Dallas in November and an assist against Arizona in March. Further, the team had an OT record of 8-6 which means there was a maximum of 6 goals he could've been on the ice for and a maximum of 6 he could've been on the ice against. Do you really think he got the lion's share of those pluses but not of the minuses?
Hardly "inflating stats". |

Nurse also scored in OT against Winnipeg in October. I remember because I was at the game. So as you said, hard to get stats on this.
I never said Nurse getting OT minutes with McDavid and Draisitl radically changed his stats. Just saying they were inflated to some extent by this. Early in the year Klefbom was getting those minutes. But he missed almost 2 months with injury. Nurse got those minutes during his absence. After Klefbom returned, Nurse continued to get some OT time with McDrai since Klefbom's thumb still wasn't 100%.

Yeah, I included that game, but mistakenly stated it was a point of Nuge's goal; it was his goal that Nuge assisted. That just means one of his two OT points didn't come with McDavid-Draisaitl on the ice. During Klefbom's injury, the Oilers went to OT three times and they were all losses. Even if he was the fixture during that time (which he was), he certainly didn't benefit from being on the ice for that.
Assuming that unlikely possibility that all the goals scored against were when Nurse wasn't on the ice, the most he can possibly have benefited from that was his 1G and 1A and a +6. He obviously didn't get the full +6 and was much more likely to have been closer to +1 or 0 so my point remains: is 1G, 1A and around +1 really that much of a stat padding worthy of singling out? |
