"Most" is over-the-top since mcDavid is around. But Matthews can be a clear #2. Check out all his stats. - RogerRoeper
I do not doubt that McDavid is the best player in the game, so yeah, I probably should not have written what I did.
I have seen Matthews dominate, at times, in a way that not even McDavid does. unfortunately, that is rare, whereas McDavid is at the top of his game most nights. |

The Raptors are an example of making a bold move that worked, but they also were in a position where they may as well have made the move because otherwise they probably would have to blow it up anyway. The Leafs' situation is different because they are at the start of their program with these guys.
Also the NBA is different in that you have these super teams and dominating players like Lebron whereas the NHL has so much parity. It makes more sense to stick with a program and get as many kicks at the can as you can because every team in the playoffs has a chance.
The Bruins are a good example. They really haven't actually done much since they won in 2011. They even missed the playoffs a few times. But they stuck with their core star players and made adjustments around them. I mean they haven't done much in terms of playoff success since then, they obviously made roster changes but kept Bergeron, Marchand, Chara, etc. |

He’s getting beaten like a disabled man fighting prime Mike Tyson.
Another full year in the AHL will be good for him. Plus, his contract slides another year. |

If he can play the right side, I’d pair him with Rielly. |

No excuses for the leafs. The raps made a bold move, cause what they had wasnt working...repeated knock outs like the leafs.
The raps recognized they werent gonna win with their group, so made changes.
But they're a vet team with some young pieces |

I'd say the Leafs are in a different situation than the Raptors, like I said. The Leafs have only really been considered a legit team for two seasons. The Raptors had run with that core for a while.
I'm just saying there's more than one way. Columbus made a bold move, they're done now. Edmonton made some moves, trading Hall was bold.
Now that I think about it actually, the bold move the Leafs made was bringing in Shanny and that's when they dumped the core that wasn't working and cleaned house. |

I actually think it's much harder to go to the finals in the NBA. Raptors made these "Bold Moves" based in a once in a lifetime chance with Lebron gone. In hockey you don't need the best player at all. In basketball, you need that megastar to have a chance. And getting a "Top Pick" in the NBA doesn't give you that guatrantee it does in the NHL.
Leafs are not far at all. The talent is there. They'll have many more chances. |

I think in another organization he may, but the Leafs are not a team that rushes guys. Him still being 19 next year tells me no way. And even if they brought him up, Babcock would barely play him. |

The Raps have been at it a lot longer.
It goes back to Brooklyn like 6 seasons ago.
Leafs just finished season 3.
You have to be bold though. If it improves the team and it gives you the best chance to win you make the moves.
There’s too much people that are okay with mediocrity in here.
This Raptor run has been insane...I take his run and done over a continuous 1st/2nd round exit year after year all day. This is why we watch sports. And sadly Leafs fans forget what that’s like but are getting a taste with the Raptors.
This is a young core that will get plenty of chances but 3 1st round exits in a row? I don’t think Dubas is just going to sign his RFA’s and then sit on his hands. |
