Nah. Within 2 years he is gonna retire because the stress from being in Edmonton will be too much to bare. |

Finnish goalie is the only reason they won and they gave the player of the game to the Finnish Chara? - GreatGigInTheSky
finland played and won as a team.
canada played as a bunch of individual 'great players'and lost.
i hope some people have been paying attention as to what wins titles and what does not.
finland deserved that win - canadian young players didnt show up at all (it was basically only couturier and stone that played a mature game).
finland played good d and their goalie was great. |

My sabres proposal was Risto and Reinhart for Trouba and Ehlers.
Or just Trouba for 7oa - jcragcrumple
Gotta get Eichel in there to make it Marner-like
No way you trade Eichel for Trouba? Exactly. |

There's probably more truth to that than people want to admit. |

how did Nylander not win this... did he strike out in the game versus Russia or something? - BorjeFan4Ever
He got an assist in the game against Russia to set a new record for Swedish players at this tournament.
Sweden just didn't make the medal round. So you can't name the MVP from a team that didn't help him out.
Had Sweden have played in the medal games, he most likely would've been the MVP. |

The leafs proposal I posted would also clear the Zaitsev contract. The point of my OP was that the leafs are unlikely to get a player of Trouba's caliber in a Nylander or Kadri trade |

He was awful the entire tournament.
At the beginning of the tournament I didn't think Canada would even make the medal round. That's how little I thought of this team. But the way they played, they absolutely deserved to win. |

Any deal including Marner is an obvious non-starter. Nylander or Kadri most certainly gets you Trouba, if the Jets include more. |

As much as I like Jones, no way I trade Matthews. He could very easily be the most dominant center in the league in the next season or 2. That is easily the toughest asset to find, even moreso than a #1 Dman. - Aetherial

"Most" is over-the-top since mcDavid is around. But Matthews can be a clear #2. Check out all his stats. |

Definitely not only possible but probable ....
I just find the lack of ..how shall I say it..
acknowledgement that McJesus isn't far and away not only the best center but player in the game today pretty ridiculous ... Without him the Oil are basically an WHL team. |

Hoping Dubas sticks to the long term plan and doesn’t do anything too crazy. Basketball and hockey are two very different sports, 1 player can’t impact the game as much in hockey as they can in basketball. They definitely need to upgrade their D, but not at the cost of building a perennial contender. |

He really doesn’t..
How many times has Wilson been suspended lately? And how many Caps fans are saying he has issues?
You guys always let the media dictate how you feel about players. I wonder if him having darker skin and being Muslim has anything to do with it 🤔 - Arctic_AARDVARK

I will say that a goalie is the one position that can affect a game, team, series more so than any player in any sport.
But your position is correct about short term vs building the long term success of the Leafs. |
