I don't know how a GM says "I'll take Jack Johnson" in any trade. Apparently Paul Fenton will. Hopefully for Minnesota's sake that trade doesn't go through. Victor Rask's contract is a boat anchor too but at least you can bury him on the 4th line and get something from him. But Jack Johnson? Yikes. - gergeswillems
Yea and if the Penguins can dump Johnson for Rask, yes that's more money tied to a useless guy, but theres a big difference between having that kind of guy on your 4th line versus in your top 6. Guys like Malkin suffered this season partly because they were on the ice with Johnson so much. Our defense couldnt get the puck to our forwards and Johnson was the #1 culprit in that. Any deal that involves Johnson going the other way, the Penguins should listen. However, I dont like the idea of negatively impacting Kessel's trade value just to dump Johnson. Just buy Johnson out and move on.
Penguins also should look to dump Hornqvist. $5M+ for the next 4 years is just ugly. Someone might want him if they need some presence in front of the net and play a slower style offense. |

Nothing like thanking Lehner for a great season by signing Bobrovsky! Basically saying you did awesome but we don't think it was good enough! |

Alot of hard miles on Hornqvist. I'm sure teams will take him. Just not sure his value is as high as most Pens fans think it is. They'll likely just keep him for now. Johnson really does negatively impact the Pens forwards. It's addition by subtraction with him. |

Ek doesn't like Lehner. He thinks Greiss is the better goalie. |

Flyers fans will say it's not enough for Ghost. Leaf fans will say it's not enough for Kadri. So it's probably a fair trade. - gergeswillems
Kadri will help the flyers in many different ways. Flyers are not stockpiled in D like Ek says but they can do this. They’ll need to get a RH. Trade picks/prospects for Colin Miller. Sign a ufa winger like Tanev. |

So two years straight leafs go to the playoffs and drop valuable players they could have gotten a good return on. |

Exactly! I mean, Lehner was rock solid for you guys this past season. Not sure how you can get better in the goaltending dept. I know hockey is a business and all but Jeez, that would be a slap in the face for Lehner. |

kadri for ghost is a slight overpay when you factor in the cap hit, term, and actully dollars being paid out.
kadri and Timothy Liljegren/Sandin
for
Ghost, laughton, and 2rd rd pick. |

You still haven't explained what changed since Ottawa was "the team to beat for sure" for Duchene. I mean, that's a pretty strong statement. Maybe information from someone "at the NHL."
Does talking to someone 'at the NHL' remind anyone besides me of Michael Scott creating a giant check made out to 'science'? |

Sorry but Panarin signing with the Rangers would be a dumb move for both parties. There’s no way signing Panarin makes that dumpster fire of a roster all that much better. And the Rangers need to be bad for the next few season and build through the draft around Captain Cocko. Without Panarin they are a bottom 5 roster and poised to add another top young talent. With Panarin they are no better than a bubble team. And why would Panarin want to play for that complete idiot of an owner is beyond me |

Gardiner to Chicago is not happening. They have a cheaper version of him in Gustaffson on LD. Plus they have been drafting defencemen (and might add another in Bowen Byram) who they will need room for so they are not going to tie up cap space for him long term esp with Keith and Seabrook on the books. |

Ottawa is the last place Duchene would sign. It's ridiculous to even suggest that, let alone claim this is the team to beat. Maybe Karlsson and Hoffman will go to Ottawa as well. E5 |

I really don’t want panarin but sorry why would a top talent go to the islanders and have to shuttle back and forth between two dumps to play home games for at least three years! |

You've done your homework on the Rangers. Definitely a dumpster fire roster |

Panarin and kakko would make them significantly better along with chytil buchnevich kreider and zibinijab they would have some serious top 6 talent |

And Kravtsov.
They've also got depth at F. Part of the teams issue last year was a lack of high end talent. Bringing in Panarin, one of Kakko/Hughes, and Kravs really helps out.
Defense is iffy, but mostly because it's young or named Staal, Smith, Shattenkirk.
Two GREAT goalie prospects for Hank to pass the torch to.
I'd say FAR from a dumpster fire, but hey, what do I know |

Panarin and kakko can get that team in the playoffs I think |
