It was 50/50.

His heart was in NY, but he wanted to win and saw a better opportunity in TOR. Dubas didn’t bring in a world class practice facility, or any of the other perks of playing for the Leafs. That’s what attracted him, at least more some than a video Dubas made.

How do you know he was deciding between NY and Toronto.

If you look at the facts, and we don’t have many as outsiders. He interviewed 5 NHL teams.

That’s the only info we have. So stop pretending like you know he had 0 interest in every other team.

For the record, being a GM would be extremely difficult and Dubas is doing a better job than I or any of us could have.

That being said, it doesn’t mean he’s void of criticism. I think we’ll see a hardened Dubas because of the flak he took over the Nylander signing, and not adding more pieces for a playoff run.

Yeah I try my hardest to forget about that. Luckily we got rid of that contract as quick as we did. I still don't know how management were able to pull that off.

Except Nylander and Nelson signed 5 months apart. Mackinnon signed years ago. Nelson just signed, so hardly moot.
