I want Trouba but the assets you give up and the fact he is looking for well above his value in AAV makes him not worth it.

I know it's stupid, but part of me would be interested in looking at a Byfuglein trade. Only two years left on his contract but not sure his legs are good enough anymore. I have just always enjoyed him as a player.

That's my take on Trouba as well. He doesn't drive play like Letang and Subban and just had his first strong offensive season. Makes more sense to keep assets and sign Schultz.

It’s definitely a bias for some. Some overvalue their own players, don’t want to pay fair value for others, lowball contract estimates, etc. It’s kinda like RW with how he selects narratives that fit his agendas.

Phil and Geno haven’t been good together and we didn’t need your proof to show us that, we could all see it. Was Kessel a great fit with Bjugstad? I didn’t think so. I think now is a good time to maximize his value as much as we possibly can and continue to move forward. It’s a business

BTW we talked Trouba for a hot minute a couple days ago. Rumor is his ask will be as high as $8.5AAV

Agree a lot of people want a team full of bargain contracts on a team that isn't producing young talent. Sometimes you have to pay market rate. Sometimes you even have to get a luxury item to fill a need, though you want to limit those.

I wonder if GMJR would take more of a futures package from AZ and then use his newfound cap space in free agency. Chayka is an analytics wiz so I don’t see him taking JJ. The JJ to MN rumors for Rask would likely still be around. Or.. if Ottawa got involved in a three way trade then there are a ton of possibilities. Arizona would likely need to unload the Hossa contract over to Ottawa as part of the trade. If both AZ and Pitt sweeten the pot then MAYBE they take on JJ.

To Ottawa: Olli Maatta, Rask, one of ZAR/Simon, Marian Hossa, AZ second round pick, Conor Garland

To Pittsburgh: Boedker, Zucker, Crouse

To Arizona: Phil Kessel

To Minnesota: Galchenyuk, Oesterle, one of ZAR/Simon, Jack Johnson

I post this knowing full well criticism will come.. valar morghulis
