I did rip Berube a ton. He wasn't very good in Philly, granted he had a roster with holes. Noticed I haven't complained once about Berube's success in St. Louis because I wanted the Flyers to fire him. It appears that team will run through a wall for the guy. I don't dislike Berube as a person, thought he was in over his head as a coach in Philly. I'm ok with him doing well.
That said, I think the Bruins are going to curb stomp them. - PLindbergh31
I hope not, I am pretty sick of Boston winning over and over. lucky f*ckers |

I’m not afraid that I ripped on Berube. He’s looking like a great coach but I’ll give a recent example of what makes him so unlikely.
Blues lose in OT on a hand pass by the Sharks. Obviously the story of the game. So the media asks about it. Berube gives a tone of attitude and brushes off the questions like they’re stupid questions. The players were a lot nicer about it but it’s pretty clear he told them not to talk about. Okay, fine, you don’t wanna talk about it but the press asking about the hand pass isn’t stupid. Nothing unfair about asking about the hand pass. Berube is a bigger jerk than Torts. At least Torts is funny. - SuperSchennBros
I have to say, I don't give a rats ass if a coach is a jerk if they do a good job |

I would agree ...plus I don’t care if the coach is funny, charismatic or smiles well as long as he gets excellent results from players and has team success. Congratulations to Berube—looking good to me!

Yeah, I thought Fletcher got fair market value at the trade and still think that. Got Hartman (former 1st rd pk w/3rd line upside) plus a 4th round pick. I did think it would be a 3rd rd pk, but Nashville blew it.

I loved the, "Well, a top-pair defenseman with another year left in his deal who's turning 30 soon (Jake Muzzin) got a 1st rounder, so Wayne Simmonds will definitely get at least 1 1st rounder," rationale. |

In fairness, I thought Toronto overpaid on Muzzin a bit due to need. And perhaps Flyers fans undervalue Hartman a bit because of the loss of a respected Simmonds in trade. |

the 6th overall and a top player was the most egregious suggestion
also a suggestion of Patrick+ a 1st lol
i would maybe do 11th overall for Trouba straight up. maybe. - Mordecai
Realistically it would prob take ghost plus a prospect like ratcliffe |

FYI, the most recent Jets blog discusses the Trouba situation, and mentions Philly as a potential trade partner. Specifically Ghost. It's an interesting read. Also interesting to check out the comments to see what Jets' fans expect in return for him. Spoiler alert, it's a ton... - Big_E_88
I think you can also have a conversation about provorov for trouba. Ghosts deal is very team friendly |

Berube didn’t get the most from Lecavalier and the team success was minimal. It was Berube’s first go around. He looks to be doing much better now.

This [bold] could possibly be fair depending on the pending RFA deals, but it has no point. Fill a hole by creating one. It doesn’t help short term and is less ideal longer term. A solid “no” from me.

Thinking about a Trouba trade is trickier now without knowing what Provorov and Sanheim sign and what Trouba wants in a new contract.

Well, true. It does remind me that a lot less players are going to be actually available this summer. Also, I really want to spend on the defensemen to get us a bettter fit. I want a budget center.

Someone tell me about Ryan Dzingel.
UFA center from Columbus. 1,800,000 was hit last cap hit.
Columbus says they want to resign but plenty of articles questioning if the trade was a bust.
26 years old.
23 and 26 goals the last two seasons. - MBFlyerfan

The Kadri rumors are interesting. No one seems to be talking much about the JVR connection. That could be big.

Not a bad deal. 27 now so be 33 when deal complete. Good 2nd line center. Got nice raise from 4 something.
It is funny to think that Voracek, after a 55 point season, doubled his contract from 4 something to over 8. Nelson just had 53 point season and only got a 2 million raise.
Not saying it's apples to apples but something i noticed. |

It doesn’t seem like a bad deal for Nelson. I am happy the Flyers aren’t locked up for 6 years on it. Patrick and others are coming. We should get someone on a shorter deal, imo.

I agree with most of what you say but it was about more than HIS goal and that attitude would be a primary driver in letting him go.
The idea that you doubt he looks back with no regret just isn't reasonable. I do appreciate your passion to defend Hextall - wcorvette
Ask yourself one simple question. If the Flyers had a good season last year and made the playoffs, would Hextall still be the GM? It's not about a passion to defend Hextall. It's about I don't believe there is anything he needs to regret. He got screwed in my opinion. |

Aren't you extremely curious of how guys like Ghost, maybe Sanheim and Myers to a lesser extent, will perform in a system like AV's? I would hang onto Ghost unless I'm bowled over by an offer. A defenseman who can score 50/60 points a year, QB'ing the PP, OT 3-on-3 threat (yes i know...) while also being on a team friendly deal and still only being 26? Thats a guy I hold onto regardless of coming off a bad year. |

i think everyone has regrets, i think its human nature. Im sure he regrets Weise, maybe not immediately, but on the whole, yea. Probably regrets not fixing the goaltending situation 3 years ago than to rely on aging vets/injury prone players. then again, hindsight is 20/20 |

Not necessarily in the same deal, but trading Gudas or Hägg frees up a spot on defense.
