I agree with you on G. Other teams have literally seen the same thing with Talbot with Allaire. If I was another team, I'd be a bit skeptical too.
I'm going to say something that will be quite a hot take in this blog: I don't think Chytil is 100% untouchable. He has the potential to be really good, but when you have Kravs coming over, Kakko/Hughes, etc, Chytil is our 3rd best youth forward. While he definitely could break out next year, it's not like he's lighting the world on fire. You could make a very sound argument that Buch put up better numbers in his first 100 games. Chytil is still very young and we shouldn't just give him away, but if he brings us a legit stud I'd pack his bags for him. - 2sticks1puck
well I think anybody is available for the right price
I think of those two goals during the season that he burst down the right wing, cut in front of the goalie, once killing Rask
he's got Jagr like size and skill and still isn't 20 years old yet
I agree with you. More interested in whether or not it was possible.
It would be nice to see the "payment" for offer sheets tweaked to make them more palatable to the team giving them out. - JRR1285
I think to get him to sign it you'd have to offer him big money and full 7 year term, which means you'd be giving up four first round picks and nobody is going to do that for just about anyone not named Connor McDavid.
The fact that the offer sheet AAV is calculated by dividing the total dollars by the lesser of: the term of the deal offered OR 5 years makes it virtually impossible to offer sheet star players
So the AAV of a $70M deal over 7 years would actually be, in terms of determining offer sheet compensation, would be $14M AAV
I think we have 6 young guys for the blueline this year and hopefully next and we really dont need to acquire a big ticket defenseman
that's my overall opinion on it - jimbro83
Mostly agree, but if Shatty and Smith can be dealt somehow, a top pairing RH Dman will be needed There really isn't a top 4 RH dman who can play next season besides Shatty, and he doesn't exactly instill confidence

Yeah I don't see Chytil as untouchable either, but it'd be dumb for the Rangers to trade him unless it was really worth it. He's young, cheap, and offensively gifted. I don't ever see him as a star player but he could eventually be in that perennial ~50-60pt player tier with guys like Granlund/Ehlers/etc... and that's a damn fine player

I'm going to reference Chiefs earlier quote in that it's unfair to compare young guys to past NHL players. I know that you weren't saying he was going to be as good as Jagr or his skill level, but still it's putting an unfair expectation. To me, he has boatloads of potential, that's for sure. That being said, this is an important year for him. There is a ton of skill in today's game. We blast on Pionk all the time, but he had a goal of the year candidate. These guys all have skill. Chytil needs to have a breakout year for sure. Anything less than say 40-45 points I think would be a dissapointment.
I'm not sure he's shown he's untouchable yet. I know if Tampa said they'd trade Point's rights for Chytil and 2 1sts, cya Chytil.
