First forward taken, but 7th best in PPG out of forwards from that draft class. Fine player, but not someone you tank for. Add in the fact that he was drafted to play Centre and has proven he can’t. I like the player, but he is another symbol of why we are where are in the standings right now. I hope he continues to improve to one day make that draft status seem relevant.

People aren't algorithms. Drafting isn't a science. It isn't as though players are like cards that shuffle into order in a deck by high value to low. You draft a player high you want a guy who is going to make a significant contribution to the team. You can't realistically expect that as the second overall he will have the second most points of his draft class.

And the "we tanked for Sam" story line is pure BS. We tanked for several years, and Sam is part of the young talent grab that was the point of the tank. If we tanked only for Sam, we wouldn't have decided to keep tanking in the fall of 2014 even before Sam stepped on the ice.

Sam is fine. In fact, him and Jack have chemistry...while we know Sam benefits playing with Jack, the inverse is true as well...Sam has the ability to find Jack and set him free for prime scoring opportunities. He also has helped Mitts when paired with him, and his possession numbers are quite good. He surely isn't a problem. It will be interesting to see where is next contract value is going to be.

My only gripe with him, is he like, the team in general is soft. I wish he had some more sandpaper to his game, but he doesn't...therefore, as with many others on the roster, the team needs to find it elsewhere.

I think Risto for Cirelli is light on the Bolts side...taking on Callahan means more coming back. Gourde would be nice but that is a stretch to me...Joseph would be who I want from them. If we have to add a mid rounder, fine.
