I'm interested to see what happens with all the big RFA's. If anybody gets "underpaid." If Point, Marner, McAvoy, Rantanen etc. all get their version of the Matthews/Nylander deals, we could be seeing a precedent set where teams really won't have any cap space to go after big UFA veterans.

It's going to one of the most interesting offseasons in recent memory. I mean, between the UFA and RFA pool alone it's up there...with additional talks of offersheets and trade rumors galore we may be in for something here.

*This sounds too familiar. Checks back to see if this is said almost every year. Yup. Definitely familiar. Readies self for trade deadline quality offseason*

McAvoy-Weber will look so good.

He has the prerequisite experience of pushing around gramp McGee's wheelchair to a Stanley Cup Final.

Teams like Carolina and Colorado might be in bigger trouble than Toronto or Boston. Both those teams are typically "Budget" teams and may not be able to ever go near the cap max. Those RFAs also might want the big signing bonses Leafs get. That's a lot of cash upfront.

Exactly. Experience with the elderly was highly regarded in his resume.

Not that they're a budget team, but the team that I think could be in the most trouble is the Jets.

Yup. Lots of teams have issues but we only hear about cap troubles with one.

Don't kid your self! Toronto has Cap issues. Can they keep Willy? Sure, but there is work to be done. Unloading Marleau - will be next to impossible, there is still another year of financial pain with Horton, two more years of Kessel stupid tax and both Kap and Johnsson are due significant increases. As for your statements about Carolina and Colorado - HOLY (frank)! Owner of Hurricanes is pretty sharp. Owner of the Colorado Avalanche is Stan Kroneke's wife (he's worth about $8.5 billion) She's not hurting either - she's one of the Walton heirs. I think an owner of Wallmart would not have issues with their sports franchise spending to the limit - but I'm not sure.

I would agree, that's despite them having a good deal on Scheifele. Little is a big overpay, and Buf is not what he was. It will depend on what they do with Trouba. If they move him for futures or a solid player making big $.

I did say they did, I just am commenting how they can spend to the cap max and it may not be possible for a team like Carolina.
