Same CBA now as then. Wouldn’t change if 3 minutes old. Does that Leafsnation article know nada?

About as valid as any other columnist posting. Only an actual example otherwise would bear out the truth.

Morgan Reilly not being named a finalist is a goddamn joke! I don't give a poop what anyone says, I would not trade Rielly 1 for 1 for any defenseman in the league, full stop, period.

Gio deserves the win of course, but Hedman can suck a (frank)ing lemon.

Edit: imagine the Leafs were swept in the first round? Rielly is barely a top 4 lulz!

Edit 2: Anyone that paid attention in the playoffs realized what a damn stud Rielly is, it was comical when Hainsey was briefly hurt watching Babs try to play Rielly with everyone. Three pair Morgan.

Rielly is great and should be the next captain

Seth Jones is better

Literally the only guy in the league that can be argued that he was as good/better than Rielly this past season.

I have no idea why Hedman was selected. He wasn't even the best defenseman on his team. That would be Ryan McDonaugh.

I would put Jones, Rielly, ahead of Karlsson and Doughty now.

Morgan Rielly is a great player.
on the offensive side though, he isn't as good as Karlsson.
the same Karlsson that people are poopting on constantly for his lack of defensive awareness.
I'll share a little secret about Rielly though - on the defensive side, he isn't much better than Karlsson..

Saying that you wouldn't trade Rielly 1 for 1 for any other d-man in the league is quite a joke - we all love Rielly and hope he'll stay with the team for next 5-8 years or so. However, there's a few guys in the league that are simply better than him. (starting with Hedman, Seth Jones, McAvoy and surely Heiskanen, Provorov will be better as well).

Travesty that he wasn't nominated for the Calder.

Plus, Hedman was injured a lot. Burns deserves to be up for the award every year, because his offensive numbers are always great..

I guess Hedman was a pity nomination

Right?!

Like, I watched them a lot (incredibly fun team to watch), and I thought what you said was pretty obvious.

But it's a case of someone getting nominated because of their name again.

Only happens to Leaf players. There is a clause that says that I believe.

I'm interested to see what happens with all the big RFA's. If anybody gets "underpaid." If Point, Marner, McAvoy, Rantanen etc. all get their version of the Matthews/Nylander deals, we could be seeing a precedent set where teams really won't have any cap space to go after big UFA veterans.

I agree. I feel like this summer could be a very big turning point on how contracts are handled in the NHL.

UFA's around their 30's will end up with either smaller or shorter contracts if you end up with huge contracts given to your 22 year old stars.
