A 3 year old article?
- .OHOH.
It might not be 3 years old. Lots of people are saying it's 1000 years old, but some people are saying it hasn't even been written yet. |

Makes ZERO difference what the Leafs do with their blue line or with anything else on the roster. None of it is ever going to bring a Stanley Cup to Toronto anyway. In a salary cap league where American based teams have the advantage over Canadian teams and the NHL about to hit 32 teams there are just too many difficulties in a market like Toronto. When you can't help yourself from hugging the baby too tight all you do is kill it. |

It's all omg the Leafs will have cap issues, what will they do? I don't know, have a team with a core of superstars in their prime and fill out the roster as best they can with rotating cheaper role players? Where's the problem? - Zezel

Same CBA now as then. Wouldn’t change if 3 minutes old. Does that Leafsnation article know nada?
About as valid as any other columnist posting. Only an actual example otherwise would bear out the truth. |

Cool. Throw away any Leafs paraphernalia, stop calling yourself a Leafs fan, and start cheering for an American team. |

Morgan Reilly not being named a finalist is a goddamn joke! I don't give a poop what anyone says, I would not trade Rielly 1 for 1 for any defenseman in the league, full stop, period.
Gio deserves the win of course, but Hedman can suck a (frank)ing lemon.
Edit: imagine the Leafs were swept in the first round? Rielly is barely a top 4 lulz!
Edit 2: Anyone that paid attention in the playoffs realized what a damn stud Rielly is, it was comical when Hainsey was briefly hurt watching Babs try to play Rielly with everyone. Three pair Morgan. |

Morgan Rielly is a great player.
on the offensive side though, he isn't as good as Karlsson.
the same Karlsson that people are poopting on constantly for his lack of defensive awareness.
I'll share a little secret about Rielly though - on the defensive side, he isn't much better than Karlsson..
Saying that you wouldn't trade Rielly 1 for 1 for any other d-man in the league is quite a joke - we all love Rielly and hope he'll stay with the team for next 5-8 years or so. However, there's a few guys in the league that are simply better than him. (starting with Hedman, Seth Jones, McAvoy and surely Heiskanen, Provorov will be better as well). |

You think a fan site is more informed than actual reporters? Ones who have spoken to league officials who have confirmed that you can use ltir (and several teams have) in the summer?
Bill Daly: "you can use ltir in the summer"
You: "but a fan site says differently, it's 50/50 right now"
What more examples do you want? Plenty have been provided and you keep harping on this saying no evidence to prove it. you've said you're ok to be wrong, but yet you continue to ignore all evidence. |

Pridham (co)wrote the CBA - and was in particular part of writing the salary cap part (including LTIR).
Leafs last year made the league aware of the fact that LTIR can be used during the Summer - before that, most NHL officials (and other team's officials) weren't aware of that (as incredible as that sounds!).
there is no discussion anymore - LTIR can be used during Summer.
there still are some advantages of not using LTIR during Summer I think - mainly related to the potential available capsize a team has at trade deadline; I am not too sure about that though or how that would work.
this explains it quite ok I think - but still not very intuitive.

EDIT:
If I'm understanding this well, Leafs could actually in off-season:
spend up to salary cap season + 10% cushion (so say 83million + 8.3mln)
and then
put Hyman, Horton, Dermott salaries all on LTIR - those salaries not counting against that 91.3mln salary 'ceiling' during the off season.
So Leafs could get all their players signed, sign UFAs/RFAs etc. while stying under 91.3mln max caphit (ex Dermott Horton Hyman) and then trade some players away to get to the 83mln max caphit at start of season.
Then during the course of the season, Leafs would need to make room for Hyman and Dermott when they're ready to play again after their recoveries. |

Reilly is great, he had a great year last year.
But hes not the best Dman in the league.
Besides who really cares about the NHL awards, theyve been a joke for over 2 decades. |

Just leave. You are embarrassing yourself. The scenarios in the article no longer exist. Clarification of the use of LTIR over the summer has come down since that article was written.
This has been explained to you many times. At this point, you are simply trolling and making an ass of yourself.
