Yep. I can see Kahun-Kampf-Kubalik getting some time together at some point. Kahun and Kubalik played in the OHL together and internationally and Kubalik and Kampf have played internationally together as well.

Today's NHL is ruled by depth... imagine if this is the 4th line with maybe all of them getting extra icetime on special teams?

If Stan adds a forward or 2... the Hawks could look scary up front. Even without adding anyone with the Kubalik addition the Hawks have a lot to work with up front.

Caggiula-Toews-Kane
Debrincat-Strome-Perlini
Sikura-Anisimov-Saad
Kahun-Kampf-Kubalik
Hayden

I think you see 1 or 2 fwds shipped out before the season starts but it's not a bad position to be in for the Hawks.

- Tyler Cameron

Thanks. Agree on trades happening. I think Bowman will be busy. Caggiula hasn't given a reason why he shouldn't play on a different line because of his energy and compete, but I would like him on the 3rd line. I hope Perlini can consistently bring it, and not just flashes and disappear. I don't know, I'm not holding my breath. I like that line-up suggestion, though.

Since Kubalik signed, does anyone see a Kubalik-Kampf-Kahun line? I think he played with those guys before. Maybe some chemistry is there. I know we had K lines this season, but I'd be interested in seeing a Czech checking line.
- I Am The Breadman

Like others, I think it probably happens at some point, but I'm still wondering if Kampf can raise his game offensively enough to justify it. Maybe they will find some chemistry but proof will be on the ice. To me, Kahun (and Kubalik) are going to be needed in the top 9 to provide offense and Kampf still hasn't shown he is more than a 4th line guy. Hard to know really what lines could be when there are likely a few guys to be moved. It would be great if the Hawks had enough skill to put guys like Kahun and Kubalik with Kampf, but there are a few question marks.

Hayden is running out of racetrack with the Hawks, Colliton may give him one more chance but he better be very good at training camp.

I look for one rookie to surprise and make the team out of camp - one of Soderlund, Highmore, Entwistle or Kurashev.

- RickJ

I think Hayden will be one of the first players dealt, maybe included in a bigger deal or for a mid to late draft pick I don’t know if a prospect will take his place, a free agent signing may be more realistic.

I know it was Rockford, bur wasn't Kampf playing top 6 in the Rock when JC was coaching there? Maybe he doesn't have a scorers touch, but maybe he could be the heavy board lifter for Kahun and Kubalik?

Kahun-Kampf-Kubalik seems mis-matched to me. If Kampf is the 4C (and I think he has to be because he doesn't generate enough offense to be 3C), then he needs wingers to play a 4th line style and I don't think Kahun is that type of player. Maybe Kubalik is? Maybe a 4th line of Caggiula-Kampf-Kubalik?
- EbonyRaptor

In fairness to Kampf, he has never really played with wingers that had any offense either. In fact they did not play much defense. His wings were different AHL'ers every night too. I would like to see if Kampf, Caggiula, and Tanev like player (maybe Kubalik) could play a 200' game and generate some offense.

Hawks draft bryam or Cozens at 3 Cozens is my pick. Size 200ft game speed skill and i m sure there are some negatives but that comes with every prospect. As far as dach imo will do good in the nhl do to his size but not at picking 3 to me he is a 8 to 10 pick in the 1st round.

Hahahaha!! Today's 5th graders are technologically advanced & were born with tablets in hand. Your parents should be proud.

I like and can agree with what you said on the 4th K cubed line.

It is entirely possible and maybe it gives them some balance in the lineup. I'm just hoping they don't end up having guys playing 4th line minutes when they could do more. I like the way Kampf plays and the effort is 110%, but I dunno. Can't wait to see what we have in camp.

If Bowman can help rebuild forward depth (and defense depth for that matter), then what you pointed out is key: making sure players who really could contribute in the top 9 or even top 6 play in those spots then on the flipside making sure players who are not skiled enough to play above the bottom 6 or even 4th line don't play higher than their water level.

Kampf is an example of the latter. Great as a 4th liner but Colliton slotted him higher last year and in Rockford due to lack of depth. If Bowman gets the depth needed up front yet Colliton decides Kampf is a 3rd liner, then that would be a head scratcher.

And agree with you and others that Kahun and Kubalik as well as Sikura fit the former, i.e. have a lot more to contribute than being a 4th liner. All 3 are offensively talented. Kahun and Sikura at least have defensive awareness to be solid 200 foot players in the top 9.

Mark Schiefele 22 goals year drafted.
Ryan Johansen 25 goals year drafted.

Dach 25 goals this season.

They may not be drafted with the 3oa pick but GM's are looking pretty stupid for not doing it.

Different league but Brady Tkachuk 8 goals in NCAA and 22 in his first season in NHL.

He’s too pretty to stay local. He’s got national media written all over his smug face.

Also most scouting reports have him being a high end goal scorer. He also scored most of his points 5 on 5.

A shoot first power forward type that can skate. That is exactly what the Hawks need and are missing in there top 6.

You can put him at wing until there is a need for him to be a top 6 center.

The Hawks have spent a lot of draft capital on D prospects the last few years. Just not sure if I like the idea of Bryam unless he is a slam dunk #1 type guy (as close as you can get for a prospect).

I really see Joki blossoming into a top 2 guy. You then have the talent pool of Beaudin, Boqvist, and Mitchell.

I don’t like him, but I don’t hate him nearly as much as most. In fact I find Edzo just as irritating as Pierre. I am jealous of the things Pierre has had the privilege to witness from the best seat in the house though.

Hey Justin, with the upfront depth you mention, does this play into Hawks drafting Bowen?

BTW, who is leading the tournament in Goal scoring? The CAT!!!!! dude can play!!!!

- glennjpawlak22

Nope. I don't think that will play into their decision.

The Hawks will take the player they deem as the best player available.

Agree as well. I think he has improved dramatically in the last couple of months. I love Burish on the Hawk telecasts this season as well. I find him refreshing. Not afraid to say what he thinks. And my wife thinks he's really cute. lol lol

I 100% agree with this TC. The Athletic had a good piece from Laz the other day in which he had some quotes from head scout Kelley. Here is the key quote from the interview:

"The defensemen we've taken have all held their value, or increased their value. That's what you're looking for"

I think in that one quote, Kelley has given away the Blackhawks draft philosophy, and I'm sure the philosophy of most if not all NHL teams.

I don't think they care at all what is the current positional need of the team, or which player will provide the most immediate help, but they are looking for the player which will provide the team with the most value moving forward.

This is the best way to manage a team. If a drafted player becomes more valuable, he can always be moved to fill the teams immediate needs.

In this draft, the Blackhawks will look to take the best prospect in terms of future value, regardless of what the positional needs of the team are.

Kurashev has looked great at the Worlds.

In his skill set and versatility he could very easily be that rookie.

There are just a lot of bodies... so some.moves would have to be made to open up room.

Curious what everyone thinks....with the Blues looking like they will move on (Sharks are a MASH unit)....Blues vs. Bruins looks like it could be an absolute war. Will be a fun series to watch.
