I'm liking this Peyton Krebs

He’s not high end top 6 material but nothing against him otherwise. Rather go for high risk reward F or RHD. At 10oa we are in an iffy position. Hope we get lucky again.

I know but he checks a lot of boxes, not a sexy pick. Greens from the Kootenay's i'm sure he knows about this kid.

Horton
- Nighthawk

Horton’s contract is irrelevant, he counts against the cap during the summer but you can exceed the cap by 10% during the summer. During the season he goes on LTIR so he doesn’t even count against the cap during the season.

Loui Eriksson is an example of a bad cap hit.

I see Leafs in a cap bind & Kapanen the sweetener. They have to sign Marner 1st to see what is left. Even then it’s difficult for Dubas. Problem is we will have competition.

One game lol, day one of the season if they don’t play he doesn’t count for any games, it’s days not games.

Even if he counts for one day, not game, it’s not the whole salary, it’s one days worth of salary.

Go researching before guessing lol

I’ll keep it short for you.
Teams can go 10% over in the offseason.
Cap compliant for day 1.
Therefore Horton is $5.3m against the cap leaving the Leafs 77.7m for 23 players.
Cap space is accrued there after.
Accounting 101 Savvy?

Leafs gain accrued cap back after the full hit at seasons start. Accounting 101
So try waiving Marner or Kapanen or anyone significant to the AHL.

You’re so dumb it’s painful, Hortons cap doesn’t affect the Leafs, the same as every cap hit the Coyotes took on to acquire picks.

Lucic and Eriksson are examples of bad salaries that cannot be buried. Permanent LTIR salaries are not a cap issue.

So do the Leafs.

It entirely depends on the amount of cap space the Leafs have on day one of the regular season. Not in week three of May, June, July or August. It’s not an issue for them right now.

How much cap is left if they have Horton?
Not in the offseason or in May but seasons start.

If they’re right up tight against the cap the day before the regular season starts they can put Horton on LTIR on the last day of training camp and exceed the cap by five million dollars on day one of the regular season.

There’s more than one way to view LTIR or utilize it. I’m sure they know what they’re doing.

What do you need to learn?

Answer: 83m - 5.3m = 77.7m

Is it not so obvious why teams get a sweetener for players on LTIR permanently?
There is no other advantage other than accruing cap space as the season moves on.

That’s not how it works. It depends on how much cap space you have. You’re trying to simplify something that’s complicated.

If you tell someone to do research, you may want to make sure you know what you're talking about.

2. I thought Toronto was vulnerable with Connor Brown, a really good player who wouldn’t cost four first-rounders, but the Maple Leafs’ use of “Summer LTIR” gave them room. Admittedly, that wrinkle caught me by surprise, but after doing some digging, this is not a move Lou Lamoriello is unfamiliar with. In 2005, right out of that lockout and the new CBA, the Devils became the first team to use this option, when Patrik Elias came down with Hepatitis after spending that season in Russia. (I believe Philadelphia also used it. The Flyers were on LTIR for about a decade.)

Sandin is about it with another D like Rosen. Liljigren isn’t progressing as well as they like. Bracco is small. No 1st this year.

What? he's a 19 yr old playing top mins in the ahl. He is facing top line players. His offensive production for his age is off the charts.

How on earth is he not progressing?

Please don't take the comments of Nighty as the feelings of other Canucks fans. From what I read Sandin overshadowed Liljegren this season. I've also know that reading about Leafs players and watching Leafs players I have generally a slightly different opinion.

Sandin has been amazing. What he's doing at 18 is certainly overshadowing lilegren somewhat, but it don't think that means that lilegren isn't progressing.

They just started using him against tougher completion and he's responded very well.
