Back in December, didn't Dubas say he wouldn't trade Nylander as long as he was the GM? - PatC80
Ya.
We knew then it was bs.
And it still is.

Alright, I'm down to clown...
Ferland as a UFA, we should consider him if not too expensive.
Trade Nylander for Pesce straight up....Carolina must realize they need scoring and he would look good on AHO's wing.
Add Wayne Simmonds if you get him on a decent deal.
Trade Brown for the RD from Edmonton that has been mentioned, Dunning?, Brown can play with McD.
Lose Marleau, Zaitsev and get Marner, Johnsson and Kap signed.
Hyman, Tavares, Marner
Ferland, Matthews, Kap
Simmonds, Kadri, Johnsson
Moore, Goat, Bracco
Rielly, Pesce
Muzzin, Dermott
Rosen/Sandin, Dunning/Lili/?
Andersen
McElhinney/Hutch
Definitely moar grit!
(Didn't do the cap but thought it should be close) - Barb34
I really like Wayne Simmonds.
But i feel...that deal wont look good in 2 years |

Bozie with da winner - Garnie
no it wasn't a mistake to not resign him...
but that guy was always underappreciated in Toronto.
to think people used to complain about his defensive game - while playing with JvR and "hot dog" Kessel

yes to Ferland contingent upon price.
Nylander for Pesce would be fine.. but I've got to believe that there might be a deal out there, perhaps a package that gets a better RHD than Pesce.
if you can land Pesce (or someone better) for Nylander - then hang onto Zaitsev.. .and my guess is a year of Zaitsev not having to play with Gardiner...and playing with Muzzin he'll be closer to earning his contract.
no going after SImmons, love the guy... but that chapter has closed... simiply doesn't have the legs anymore
besides, at least one of the recently signed Russian's will make the club out of camp, Moore needs a spot ...

Alright.. Let's clown.. Wayne Simmonds? What kinda deal are you thinking? - PatC80
As mentioned by some of the others, his time has come but originally I was thinking short term.
If we know Simmonds is close to done, GMs must too. So if you could get him on a short deal with decent cap, why not. 3yr x 4milly???
(I'm not really good at the cap part for middle tier guys, don't even know if that's good or bad guess) |

Also highly unlikely Marleau is going anywhere. Can't buy him out, can't move him without his consent, can't even move him to the minors.

That is a TON of movement.
Assuming for new or resigned players: 30Mil
4M for Simmonds, 3M for Ferland, 3M for Johnson, 4M for Kap, 10M for Marner, 2M for Backup Goalie plus: 4M for Pesce
Add in: 3.35 for Bracco, Sandin, Liljegren, Rosen (poopty development sitting a young D on the bench though)
Subtract (this is miracle territory here): 20Mil
6.25 for Marleau, 6.96 for Nylander, 4.5 for Zaitsev, 750k for Sparks, 2.1 for Brown.
You're left with the lineup suggested with a cap hit of: 81,060,000 give or take. But you still need to add Horton for 5.3, Kessel for 1.2 and 2 more Entry level forwards sitting on the bench for 1.6.
89,260,000 before putting Horton on LTIR (which the Leafs have to be under the cap before they can put him on the reserve) and 83,860,000 after putting Horton on LTIR
So they would have to shed ~860,000 just to be at the cap and a further 5.3M before the start of the season. |

New Russian forward will be in the leafs lineup, Babcock was involved in his signing so you know just like oz no matter how good or bad he is he'll be force fed into the lineup.
Let's hope he isn't a total flop |

think for 5 seconds here people....
Babcock is not getting his "Ron Hainsey" back in all likelihood.
Is it really a stretch to believe he won't ask/demand that Dubas sign the stork AGAIN? - BorjeFan4Ever
Mackenzie said he thinks hainsey is back and used with rielly

4mil for Simmonds? Wtf
2mil for a backup are you high?
This is so terrible marleau already said he's coming back and Babcock wants him back. You're dream of dumping marleau needs to end. We all want him to disappear but coach wants him back and he wants back.

Simmonds has been pretty bad for a few years now. His production has dropped drastically and it’s not just at 5 on 5, it’s on the PP too, which was his bread and butter. When he was a bit younger he was everything you want in power forward
Now, I’m afraid he’s not much more than a slow fourth liner. Father Time hasn’t been kind to him |

My bad. Literally right after I said I'd PM it to a guy I left to go get absolutely wasted.
I just woke up and I'm still kinda drunk so I guess I succeeded in that endeavor, not that I can remember. |
