You can simultaneously love the hire and be skeptical of the on ice results. No one says a bad thing about the guy. Oilers fans and players both admit that it was a mistake to fire him. When was the last time you saw fans supporting an axed coach? Teddy Nolan 20 some odd years ago? It's a rarity. - TheSabresTaco
You just decreased my optimism with this hire. Thanks a lot. |

I dunno about checkin boxes but Phail Houseleague has more HC experience than Wreck-It-Ralph.
Just being cheeky. Love the hire! |

that was in the last sentence...thx 4 reeding - Michael Pachla
No. Thank YOU.
I was mostly at ease.
You put me further at ease.
Or eez.
I love the hire.
Like some are saying, we don't know the end result (hopefully, it's hoisting the Cup in 5 years), but the fact that seemingly EVERYONE in and around the game (current and former players on both sides of the pond, current management, former management, media of all shapes and sizes, etc) are lauding this hire, I'm 100% good with it. And what a story it'll make, if Krueger can bring us to the promised land.
But, one step at a time...GET TO WORK, BOTTS! GIVE THIS MAN SOME PLAYERS!

I get the feeling that depending on who Krueger hires as his top assistant (Vellucci) his time as HC will only be a few years and he'll head upstairs.

Friedman does seem to have connections to Buffalo, more than the other insiders. |

Cautious optimism? - mhp
Yup. If I go the route of some of my friends and think it's a joke of a hire and was only hired because no one else wants to come here I'll just stop watching. |

There are 31 coaching jobs in the top league in the world. I can't believe people still think no one wants one of those jobs.

Exactly, I feel like when it comes to the national insiders, they've each got about 4 or 5 teams that they've built a good relationship with. Competition with TSN etc. forces that but often who ill believe entirely comes down to that. Not because I think they're lying or anything, just cause the other guy probably knows better.
That's why the ROR thing was so hit and miss with me last year. Because Friedman seems to have the inside track with BUF, but I know his relationship with STL is tenuous because he and Doug Armstrong aren't exactly pals |

Doubtful. Although I read the other day that Botterill talked to him.
Maybe Nate Leaman, Vellucci, Shaw. Just a big guess on my end. |

Gotcha, thank you.
I would love this idea. I think whoever Ralphie picks as his top assistant could be indicative as to what happens down the road. I really hope he hires a younger guy that he can groom. |

Offer sheet Werenski and Povorov at 6.3M and make those teams pay them?
I would gladly pay a 1st and 3rd for either. Doubt either team can't match that, but who knows. If CLB wants to keep Panarin, Bob and or Dutchy, their cap could be swallowed up pretty quickly. The Flyers are okay too, but need to give raises to Konecny, Hartman and Sanheim as well as sign a goalie.
I'm dreaming. Ok, sorry. |
