Nylander for Kessel, a prospect, and a #7 dman.
The Leafs are already paying 1.2 of his salary, so this will actually save money |

Picture this PP formation. Malkin on his one T side, Subban on his, Letang up top, 59/72 in front and 87 down low: Letang dishes over to Malkin and cuts down the middle towards the net. Malkin A) rips the puck on net with 3 players at or going to the net B) gives it down low to Sid who feeds Letang for a 1T or sauces it further to Subban for the 1T (which wasn’t an option with Phil) or C) if the PK follows Letang down low then Malkin gives it back to Subban for the 1T (or he in turn gives it right back to Geno for his) and we still have 3 guys in and around the net
You literally can’t take anything away with this setup because it highlights a 2 on 1 in so many segments and the best part is that Crosby is often the guy passing on the odd man opportunity lol |

Kessels pt totals are directly a result from Malkin and Crosby.
If he gets traded he will be a disappointment on most teams. |

5v5 WOWY past 2 years
Malkin-Kessel (Malkin w/out Kessel)-
CF 50.9 (52.2) SF 50.3 (53.5)
GF 49.6(51.8) xGF 50.0 (54.4)
SCF 51.4 (55.0) HDCF 47.6 (55.3)
HDGF 40.4 (57.7). PDO .998 (.994)
Offensive FO 70.1 (56.1)
So they're heavily sheltered yet get worse results. Honestly the Malkin-Kessel chemistry is the most overrated thing here. You want a better Malkin, get him wings who will get him the puck. |

So true, he was a 20 point guy in Toronto! - Brukie
Cut him some slack, he's from LA. He's still wondering when that Gretzith guy, or whatever his name is, is coming back.
This is the same city whose local TV stations showed a Sacramento Kings logo when the Kings made the SCF in 2012. |

Bottom line for me is that if a Kessel trade happens it is very likely whoever gets Kessel will win the trade. - joegreif17
Not if they got PK (not sure if that is what Nashville wants though.
I also think they could win if they did something similar to the Neal trade (provided the plus isn't something like Spaling) say a Zucker+ trade.
Then again, I think Malkin will be better without Kessel. PP won't, but I'll make the trade-off. I wouldn't just dump him though, need value for Kessel. |

Not sure where the idea that Kessel and Malkin needed each other came from. Outside of the PP they didnt work out well. Pens options for a trade need 1. upgrade the top 4 D. 2. Get Malkin wings that get him the puck or get Kessel a C that gets him the puck.
If the Pens do make moves they need to go big. This is beyond tweaking the lines....Do an overhaul. |

Since we're on the subject of trading superstars, let me ask you:
If the Oilers offered to trade you McDavid with $1.9M retained (to make the cap an even swap) for Crosby, would you do it? |

Crosby would have to waive his full NMC. From a business perspective it would be hard not to....Crosby will be really good for maybe 3-4 years and then just be good. When your revenue stream comes from the playoffs MCD in theory sets you up for a long haul. I would think about it and investigate more....I dont have the time to follow the league much so would understand why the Oilers still suck with him. |
